FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH - OPEN COMPETITIVE OPPORTUNITY

This is a professional social services position for the Medical Foster Care (MFC) program reporting to the Registered Nursing Supervisor or Community Health Nursing Director position. The individual in this position utilizes the social work process to provide pediatric and family social work expertise in the assessment, training, implementation, and evaluation of MFC program services in the greater Orlando area. Service area includes Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily referrals, intakes, placements, and discharges
  • Arrange assessments, staffing’s, and parent-child medical training
  • Ensure compliance with program standards, policies, and foster care records
  • Lead annual program reviews and implement corrective action plans
  • Provide ongoing training and educational opportunities for program staff
  • Support medical foster parents with Medicaid regulations, respite care, and community resources
  • Partner with the Department of Children and Families to coordinate placements and transitions
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate medical foster parents; oversee approvals and renewals
  • Serve as liaison with community agencies and healthcare professionals
  • Maintain accurate records for each child and parent
  • Drive quality assurance initiatives and monitor program performance
  • Prepare reports and manage program data.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work with families and children with special health care needs.

  • Ability to access information from computer data systems and websites.
  • Ability to use a computer for word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications, as well as for attending virtual meetings and training.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • This position requires travel.

Preferred:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in the social services or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 Years of Child welfare experience and medical setting experience
  • Working knowledge of Florida Medicaid as it applies to children and youth, and Department of Children and Families as it relates to foster care.
  • Experience in the use of technology, electronic health records including computer systems/applications (e.g. Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to medical conditions, diagnosis and treatment plans.
