Job Description

We are working closely with Birmingham Children's Trust to assist with the appointment of a Social Work Assistant, on a 2.5-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay £13.70- £17.65 per hour

Hours Per Week: 17.50

Birmingham Children's Trust is seeking a dedicated and reliable Senior Social Work Assistant to join our team. This specialized role focuses on facilitating and observing "Family Time" (supervised contact) between children in care and their families. Operating primarily after school hours, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that children remain connected to their families in a safe, supportive, and well-documented environment. While the primary focus is observation, you will also provide vital family support to help improve outcomes for the children we serve.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate, objective, and timely written records of contact sessions, noting interactions, parental engagement, and the child's response.
  • Facilitate and observe contact sessions between children and their birth families, ensuring the physical and emotional safety of the child at all times.
  • Assist Social Workers by delivering specific family support tasks, such as modeling positive parenting behaviors or providing practical advice to families.
  • Act as a vigilant professional, identifying and reporting any safeguarding concerns or risks immediately in accordance with Trust policies.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, Health and Social Care, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Essentials

  • Proven experience working with children and families, preferably within a social care, education, or youth work setting.
  • A non-judgmental approach with the ability to build rapport with families from diverse backgrounds.
  • A full, valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
