Description

Premier League Studios is seeking a Social Video Lead to drive the strategy and execution of its social video output. Drawing on an unrivalled range of assets - including access to players, matches and the Premier League archive - they will lead the development and delivery of audience-first content that is strategically sound, scalable and at the forefront of social storytelling. This role will drive a vital part of our fan growth strategy, building both the breadth and depth of fandom for the Premier League. The content will serve both the owned and operated channels of our international broadcast partners as well as the Premier League’s digital channels.

In November 2024, the Premier League announced it was establishing a new in-house media operations business launching at the start of the 2026/27 Premier League Season. Premier League Studios will be responsible for all international media content production and distribution, providing a best-in-class content service to the Premier League’s partners and millions of passionate fans around the world.

All staff liaise closely with their line manager to manage their time appropriately and according to their work and team requirements.

The role

  • Leading the creative direction and production of Premier League Studios’ social video output, inspiring a multidisciplinary team to create distinctive, platform-first content that grows and deepens fandom.
  • Determining how field-of-play moments, player access, Media Access Days and the Premier League archive are used to create timely, scalable content for the Premier League and its international broadcast partners.
  • Building strong working relationships across Programming, Creative, Editorial and Production to identify opportunities to refine and repackage content for social audiences.
  • Using social instincts and performance insight to sharpen hooks, structure content for retention and consider packaging from the outset.
  • Continually reviewing broadcaster behaviour, Premier League channel performance and evolving platform best practice to decide what should be retained, improved, scaled or stopped.

Requirements for the role

  • Expert knowledge of football, social media and platform-first storytelling, with a strong understanding of what captures attention and builds engagement.
  • Proven experience leading the creative development and production of social-first video content for large-scale audiences.
  • Strong editorial judgement and the ability to identify compelling stories, moments and assets that can be adapted for social platforms.
  • Experience using performance insight, audience behaviour and platform best practice to improve content effectiveness.
  • Strong understanding of editing, motion design, music and post-production techniques, and how these can be used to repackage content creatively.
  • Experience making effective use of player access, on-site filming, archive material or similar premium content opportunities.
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to build trusted relationships across Programming, Creative, Editorial, Production and other teams.
  • Ability to influence content at an early stage, helping stakeholders shape ideas, production plans and access opportunities for social impact.
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain social audience needs and platform behaviours to colleagues across the business.
  • Ability to bring together specialist skills and resources from across Premier League Studios to create distinctive, platform-first content.
  • Proven experience leading, inspiring and developing multidisciplinary creative teams, including Producers, Assistant Producers and Editors.
