We’relooking for an editor who understands how journalism travels on social media — and how to shape it for audiences who expect immediacy,personalityand clarity. This rolewillidentifyand createhigh-impact newsvideoas well aswork with Post journalists tocreate social-firstvideothatresonatesacross Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Snapchat,Xand emerging platforms.
The ideal candidate is fluent in shooting and editing vertical video, deeply familiar with platform best practices and energized by the challenge of translating rigorous reporting into compelling short-form storytelling. This editor will be part of a team focused on producing high-impact video for both The Post’s owned-and-operated platforms and social ecosystems, helping grow reach,engagementand brand loyalty.
This position is based in our Washington, D.C., newsroom.

Shoot and edit vertical videooptimizedfor social viewing, ensuring strong hooks,pacingand clarity.
Partner with Post journalists to create personality-driven, social-first videos tailored for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Snapchat and other platforms, grounded in Post standards and social media policies.
Collaborate with editors,producersand designers across the newsroom to refine the look,voiceand tone of social video.
Evaluate engagement metrics regularly, track performance and adapt production strategies to maximize audience growth and interaction.
Coach journalists on best practices for creating effective social-first video, including scripting,framingand delivery.
Writeaccuratescripts, headlines,captionsand metadata that enhance discoverability and engagement.
At least two years of experience in a professional newsroom.
At least three years of video editing experience.
Strongproficiencyin Adobe Premiere and comfort managing the full social publishing pipeline.
Demonstrated speed and precision in video editing for deadline-driven environments.
Experience publishing to major social platforms and a deep understanding of vertical video best practices.
Strong news judgment, attention to detail and commitment tofact-checkingand accuracy.
Ability to write clear, compelling scripts and social copy quickly.
Experience in audience engagement and working across multiple social platforms.
A demonstrated ability to use analytics to inform editorial and production decisions.
Experience producing video in the field, including operating camera equipment,lightingand audio setups.
A track recordof creative and distinctive work on social media platforms.

The salary range for this position is $82,600.00 - $123,800.00. The actualstartingsalary within this range will depend on individual skills,experienceand qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
