Minimum Qualifications (from OPM Job Specification): The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work, business, public administration, or a related field; plus three years of experience in social or community service work, including two years in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. The Department of Human Services (DHS) Social Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating departmental operations within a county facility. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Salary Range: $57,531 - $84,879


The Social Services Coordinator manages and coordinates social service programs, ensuring that clients receive necessary resources and support. This role involves case management oversight, policy implementation, and interagency coordination to enhance service accessibility for Arkansas residents.

Primary Responsibilities


Oversee case assignments and workload distribution among social services staff.
Ensure programs comply with state and federal guidelines.
Develop partnerships with community resources and service providers.
Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements.
Provide training and support to frontline social workers.

Knowledge and Skills


Strong organizational and analytical skills
Ability to manage and coordinate multiple cases and projects
Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities
Case management and service coordination
Knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
Knowledge of Arkansas social service laws, policies, and regulations
Intermediate in data management, reporting, and documentation
Familiarity with trauma-informed care and cultural competency
Understanding of behavioral health and protective services

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of three years of work experience in human services programs or public service. Required to have a background check and child/adult maltreatment registry check.
