POSITION TITLE: SOCIAL SERVICES AIDE

STATUS: REGULAR / PART TIME / NON-EXEMPT

SCOPE OF POSITION

Provide administrative support to the Social Programs Manager to help ensure that the needs of the department are served.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answer incoming phone calls and determine the most appropriate resolution.
  • Sort, and date stamp all incoming mail.
  • Maintain Food Pantry, by restocking pantry from warehouse and rotating food items.
  • Bagging of food items that need to be processed.
  • Provide general support to Social Programs Department such as, but not limited to helping with clientele shopping, record updating in Wellsky program.
  • Daily mail pick-up from mailbox on campus and delivery
  • Customer service interaction with clientele
  • Generate reports as needed.
  • Drive to pick up food donations from outside vendors and community partners, following temperature protocols.
  • Complete Serv-Safe training and any other training assigned.
  • Maintain food pick up logs, check freezer, and refrigerator logs per safety requirements.
  • Perform other administrative functions as requested.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

SEASONAL:

  • Assist with Adopt-a-Family Program
  • Help with interviewing of families.
  • Entering data gathered into the Wellsky database.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma required.
  • Two years in social service general support preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Self-starter
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong use of the English language in verbal and written communication
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure.
  • General knowledge of business protocols
  • Ability and willingness to keep information confidential.
  • Must have a valid Montana State Driver’s License and ability to pass TSA MVR check and in-house driving test. Must be 21 or older to drive according to the TSA policy.

SOFTWARE-RELATED SKILLS

  • Basic use of Microsoft Suite products including Outlook (or other similar email programs), Word, and Excel
  • Wellsky database entry, will train.
  • Ability to use a telephone, copier, fax, and scanner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to lift to 30 lbs.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a normal office setting.

Work Schedule/Location:

Monday through Friday/ In-person at The Salvation Army, Helena Corps. Part-time hours are 27 hours.
