  • Ensure social posts adhere to the Guardian’s design and work closely with motion graphics designers as well as independently within templates
  • Work closely with other teams to share resources and execute collaborative multimedia projects
  • Monitor, analyse and measure social engagement as required, across all channels, and optimise content (title, images, graphics, and other elements) in line with performance
  • Keep up to date with the latest social media developments, especially best practice off-platform

About you

  • Understanding of how to make text, photos, graphics and video work together on social media
  • Experience of scripting, producing and editing videos for social media from start to finish using Adobe Premiere.
  • Strong writing skills with a flair for summarising long, complex information into engaging and concise copy
  • Experience working with all major social platforms, underpinned by a nuanced understanding of each platform’s unique ecosystem, and how to optimise content performance for each platform
  • Understanding of the specific needs of social media audiences
  • Familiarity with content management systems and analytics of all major social media platforms
  • Strong design skills with ability to produce static social content using Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
  • Journalistic training including knowledge of media law and OSINT is an advantage
  • Experience working in a newsroom or similar environment
  • Knowledge of After Effects or other graphics software, and ability to shoot video a strong advantage, but not essential
  • Ideally you will have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to the role.
