Social Media Specialist

Purpose of the Job

The Social Media Specialist is primarily responsible for maintaining Coptic Orphans' presence and engagement across social media platforms. This includes creating and publishing content, monitoring interactions, and ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and brand voice. In addition, the role provides support for other digital communications, such as email campaigns and website content updates, to maintain consistency and accuracy across all platforms. The Specialist works closely with the Digital Communication Manager to enhance the organization's digital outreach and impact.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Draft, schedule, and publish content across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, etc.
  • Create all post formats, including static images, carousels, reels, short videos, and stories.
  • Draft captions and descriptions that reflect Coptic Orphans' brand voice and mission, ensuring accuracy and creativity.
  • Assist in producing and editing engaging videos and reels.
  • Monitor comments, messages, and mentions, and engage with the community promptly and appropriately.
  • Provide live social media coverage during in-person and virtual events.
  • Contribute creative ideas during monthly content calendar planning.
  • Stay up to date on social media trends, tools, and best practices to keep content fresh and relevant.
  • Support the day-to-day upkeep of the website by monitoring content accuracy and requesting technical fixes from technology department when needed.
  • Update mobile app content and coordinate with technology department to ensure smooth functionality and usability.
  • Follow up on the logistics of online communications, including coordinating mass fundraising emails and field updates across different platforms.
  • Track social media performance and prepare basic analytics reports for the Digital Communication Manager.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communication, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in social media and digital content.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), as well as Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to read and write Arabic is required.
  • Knowledge of Coptic culture is required.
  • Experience with social media tools such as Canva, Meta Business Suite, and scheduling platforms.
  • Strong writing and visual storytelling skills.
  • Basic video editing and graphic design skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and responsive to deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with creative teams and cross-departmental staff.
  • Passion for mission-driven work.
  • Working out of the official hours and on weekends may be required.

Through child sponsors and a network of over 900 village-based on the ground volunteers, churches, and organizations, our programs help children stay in school (and stay with their families) and by God’s grace, we empower thousands of children to reclaim their dignity and self-worth.

We make a covenant with orphaned families in Egypt to stay with a child until the end of their highest education, as long as they also work hard to make full use of every possible educational opportunity they have.
