Social Media Coordinator 
 
Eastern Connecticut State University is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Social Media Coordinator position. Eastern is Connecticut’s Public Liberal Arts University and is located in Willimantic, Connecticut which is 1.5 hours from Boston and 2.5 hours from New York City.  Eastern is one of four universities in the Connecticut State College and University System (CSCU). The position also offers substantial health and retirement benefits.

Develops, implements, and monitors the effectiveness of social media programs under the direction of the Director of University Communications & Marketing or designee. Assists in executing related marketing initiatives.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages Eastern’s official University Communications & Marketing and Alumni Affairs accounts on TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, Threads, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and other emerging platforms.
Posts content to official pages on a scheduled basis.
Tracks and analyzes social media and web effectiveness using analytics tools.
Assists with the implementation and development of strategies for social media and other digital platforms.
Provides social media training and technical support to faculty and staff as needed.
Works with the Media Services department to maintain Eastern’s YouTube channel(s).
Coordinates updates for selected university publications.
Updates Eastern’s digital navigational tools, including Eastern’s virtual tour, Apple/Google maps presence, and assists with a digital map and calendar system.
Assists with healthy online dialogue by identifying spam or harmful activity and responding to criticism or sensitive conversations with professionalism, sound judgment, and adherence to university communication standards.
Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those above, which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of and ability to apply federal and state laws and regulations as well as university and BOR/CSCU policies and procedures. Knowledge of and ability to apply best practices of designated unit and program. Ability to collect, analyze, and prepare data. Ability to convene and collaborate with campus offices/departments and community resources. Ability to handle complex tasks, meet deadlines, and prepare reports. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to use academic technologies, equipment, platforms, and software.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Typically performs work indoors, on campus, and in person. May be required to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS: bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field. Three (3) years of experience in developing and executing social media and/or digital marketing strategies (related marketing experience preferred). Credentials and/or experience substantially comparable to the above may also be considered.

COMPENSATIONS AND EMPLOYEE BENEFITS: The Social Media Coordinator is compensated at the Administrative III salary level in accordance with State University Organization of Administrative Faculty (SUOAF).
