Mater Foundation are looking for a Social Media & Content Specialist to join the Lotteries team! This permanent, full-time role will be based at our Newstead campus.

What you’ll be doing at Mater Lotteries?

The Social Media & Content Specialist is responsible for owning and growing our organic social presence, creating compelling, channel-first content that delivers against campaign and acquisition objectives. You will oversee organic social media, content strategy, production shoots, campaign delivery, community management and performance reporting.

You’ll collaborate closely with our digital marketing team, agency partners, production crews and internal stakeholders to ensure all content aligns with brand guidelines, engages audiences and supports acquisition goals.

  • Own and be accountable for performance and growth of the Lottery’s organic social media function
  • Develop and execute social-first content strategies for Mater Lotteries in alignment with overall team objectives.
  • Plan, create and publish platform-native content (video, reels, stories, posts) optimised for engagement and conversion
  • Lead content shoots and production, working closely with creators, agencies and internal teams
  • Map, test and apply AI tools for content creation
  • Contribute to content marketing strategies working in partnership with Lifecycle and Brand teams such as written content including blogs, landing pages and campaign messaging
  • Develop and test value propositions to understand supporter motivations
  • Prepare clear agency briefs, timelines and budgets
  • Ensure all supporter‑facing content aligns with brand guidelines and tone of voice
  • Provide executive summaries of key reports for the Head of Digital – Lotteries

About you

You are a hands-on social content specialist with a proven track record of building and managing social channels, not just planning campaigns.

You understand platform dynamics, content trends and audience behaviours, and you’re confident creating, testing and optimising content that drives engagement and results.

  • Hands-on experience managing production workflows and projects, including timelines, stakeholder communication and delivery tracking across different channels.
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to use data to guide decisions.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in social media and content management, with proven experience delivering commercially effective content that drives tangible results
  • Experience in quality assurance of marketing assets, including proofreading and effectiveness assessment.
  • Solid understanding of digital growth, acquisition marketing, social media, digital publishing and asset management.
  • Familiarity with best‑practice digital marketing techniques.
  • Experience administering social accounts and working with content management systems (CMS).
  • Proven ability to create channel‑appropriate content.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively to achieve campaign outcomes.

Nice to have

  • Experience operating in environments with a steady flow of content, where planning, prioritisation and quality are equally important (e.g. eCommerce, media, etc)
  • Familiarity with AI tools for content ideation and production
  • Experience working with agencies, creators or influencers
  • Understanding of acquisition-focused marketing and conversion-driven content

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
