Te Tūranga | About the role

As a Social Media Advisor you’ll be the voice of Tauranga City Council on social media, and the creative spark behind content our community genuinely wants to read, watch and share. From major city projects to the everyday services people rely on, you’ll turn council information into clear, human stories that build understanding and trust. You’ll own our channels end to end, use insights to keep making them better, and see your work land in front of a whole city, every single day. Working closely with our Strategic Content Lead, you’ll be part of a supportive team that will back your ideas and grow your craft.

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring 2 to 5 years’ experience in social media, digital communications, copywriting or content creation, backed by a relevant qualification. You’ve managed social channels end to end and love turning complex or technical information into clear, engaging copy for any audience. You know your way around platforms, analytics and social listening tools, and you’re comfortable working within brand, governance and approval processes. You have a sharp eye for detail, stay cool when issues pop up, and bring cultural awareness and experience engaging with our diverse communities, including Māori and iwi. Agency experience is a bonus. If you’re ready for your content to matter to an entire city, we’d love to see what you can do.
