About the role

The Social Development Officer is responsible for ensuring that social safeguards, community engagement, and stakeholder participation are effectively integrated into project implementation. The role focuses on addressing social impacts, promoting inclusive development, facilitating communication between project teams and local communities, and ensuring compliance with applicable social safeguard policies and regulations. This position supports the project by monitoring social issues, assisting in grievance redress mechanisms, and promoting equitable benefits for affected and beneficiary communities throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Guide, mentor, monitor and evaluate the functioning and performance of social mobilization work

• Establishing systems to achieve the objectives of the project and work closely with training and monitoring and evaluation coordinators at HQ level to mainstream SD issues and also evaluate field level operations as per the ESMF of the project at the Directorate level

• Establish regular field contact and rapport building with the community, and motivators, facilitators and coordinators

• Guide the facilitators and coordinators to collate the social, cultural and economic information of the micro watershed plans with the field observations

• Help in development of participatory mechanisms and framework for establishing and strengthening field level institutions. - Help in increasing participation of women in livelihood generating activities

• Any other tasks assigned by the TL/DTL

About You:

• Bachelor's in relevant social science discipline

• At least 5 years of professional experience of working in related field of rural development programme/WASH related projects/community based
