Summary

At Larimer County Department of Human Services, we strive to be responsive and provide timely resources in partnership with our community so individuals and families are healthy, supported, and safe. We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic staff member to join our Child, Youth, Family & Adult Protective Services (CYFA) Division as a Social Caseworker Manager.

Social Caseworker Managers supervise, train, coach, support, and oversee both Intake and Ongoing Child Protection Caseworkers. This position will help ensure that workers are able to assess for the safety, permanency, and well-being needs of children and their families and create safety and support plans and case plans that will address identified needs.

The schedule varies day to day, and this position is expected to work outside regular business hours as needed.

You must have adequate internet access and space for remote work. Larimer County provides a one-time remote work stipend to assist with equipment and office supply needs for remote workspaces. What you'll be doing:

  • Supervises and oversees the review of child protection referrals and helps to determine acceptance and assignment of referrals for assessment.
  • Sets and meets quality standards for services.
  • Uses data to monitor outcomes and create discussion opportunities to improve practice and services for families.
  • Supervises, teaches, coaches, and supports both intake and ongoing CWs in assessing for and planning for child safety, permanency, and well-being.
  • Supervises and monitors ongoing case management for both court-involved and non-court-involved cases.
  • Will provide supervision regarding safety and risk tools and support caseworkers in the development of detailed Safety and Support Plans that control for the child protection concern.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to provide a continuum of services for children, youth, and families.
  • Provides regular feedback, promotes critical thinking within their team, and completes regular performance reviews.

What we're looking for

  • Thorough knowledge of Social Work principles and casework techniques, which includes complete understanding of development and implementation of customer needs assessments, setting and meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Thorough understanding of County and State regulations, as well as Social Services policies and procedures as they relate to providing exceptional service in the area of social casework and screening in child welfare.
  • Experience in effectively handling major changes in work responsibilities and adjusting effectively to working within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures. Candidates must be open to change and adapt quickly to changes and new approaches within the work environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise as a self-starter with strong leadership skills and a demonstrated willingness to lead, take charge and offer opinions or direction.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Outstanding analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to think logically and arrive at sound conclusions. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Solid organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and accomplish multiple projects simultaneously; readily readjusts priorities to respond aptly to pressing and changing demands.
  • Excellent ability to provide timely guidance and feedback to lead and develop staff with knowledge/skills needed for accomplishing work.

Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.

  • Bachelor's Degree from a higher education institution with coursework related to the job responsibilities of child welfare social casework supervisor. Coursework examples can include and are not limited to, the development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures, or therapeutic techniques.
  • Three (3) years of professional, internship, or volunteer work experience in a human services-related agency. A Master's degree or higher in a social work or human behavioral sciences field can substitute for one (1) year of professional, internship, or volunteer work experience in a human services-related agency.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire.
