Job Description

A well‑established non-profit organisation providing a wide range of services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities is seeking Social Care Workers to join their expanding team. The organisation supports individuals across multiple residential and day service settings and is committed to person‑centred care, community integration and enabling people to reach their full potential.

About the Role

Reporting to a Social Care Leader, Nurse, or relevant Manager, you will support residents in line with national standards for disability services. You will help create a home‑from‑home environment and ensure high‑quality care and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support residents with day‑to‑day activities in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Build respectful, empowering relationships and promote independence.
  • Assist with personal care where required.
  • Teach daily living skills and support residents with personal finances.
  • Promote community involvement and meaningful leisure activities.
  • Handle household duties such as cooking, cleaning and shopping.
  • Administer and record medication safely.
  • Maintain records and reports as required.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive environment and follow all Health & Safety procedures.
  • Support and supervise staff when required, following organisational guidelines.
  • Help develop individual care plans and promote person‑centred advocacy.
  • Act as a Key Worker where necessary.
  • Drive residents to appointments, activities or day services (full driving licence required).

Experience & Qualifications

  • A recognised qualification in Social Care, Nursing (RNID), or Social Work.
  • Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Experience managing behaviours that challenge is desirable.
  • Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Flexibility to work a roster including days, evenings, weekends, 12-hour shifts and sleepovers.

Additional Requirements

  • Full Irish/EU driving licence.
  • Willingness to complete all necessary training (internal & external).
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality and comply with organisational policies.
  • CORU registered / applied for CORU Registration

Salary

  • Based on Section 39 restored pay scales, aligned with experience and qualifications.
  • Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
  • Pay: €19.34-€25.86 per hour
  • Expected hours: No more than 48 per week
