Position: Social Care Worker / Team Leader

Location: Galway, Ireland

Salary: 34,971 - 52,621 per annum (team lead payment 2,829.38 pro-rata on the hours worked)

Role: Permanent

Houre: Full Time or Part Time

We are proud to recruit for our client, a respected organization dedicated to supporting children and adults with intellectual disabilities in Galway. They are seeking a compassionate Social Care Professional to join their team, delivering high-quality residential and respite care that empowers individuals and fosters community inclusion.

Various locations within Galway are available as are levels of seniority.



As a Social Care Professional, you will provide person-centred care within a collaborative team, adhering to our clients policies and safety guidelines. You will support individuals with diverse needs, including those with challenging behaviours, and play a key role in promoting their independence, self-worth, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver residential and respite care, supporting daily living, personal care, and household tasks.
  • Act as a key contact for assigned individuals, liaising with families and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Develop and implement tailored programs to teach self-help, domestic, and social skills.
  • Support individuals with challenging behaviours through evidence-based approaches.
  • Administer and document prescribed medications accurately.
  • Guide Care Assistants and ensure a cohesive team approach.
  • Step into a leadership role as Person in Charge when required.
  • Maintain detailed records and reports to support service delivery.
  • Engage with families and visitors, ensuring respectful and considerate interactions.
  • Facilitate community-based activities to enhance clients leisure and social experiences.
  • Drive client vehicles or your own for work-related tasks.
  • Work a flexible rota, including weekends, sleep-ins, or night shifts as needed.
  • Uphold safety standards and comply with regulatory requirements, including HIQA guidelines.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Level 7 degree in Social Studies or a related field.
  • Registration: CORU registered or in the process of registration.
  • Experience: Background in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities or similar settings.
  • Licensing: Full drivers license with access to a vehicle.
  • Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities.
  • Attributes: Motivated, empathetic, and committed to advocacy.
