What is the role responsible for?

Our brand, reputation, and ability to serve our customers is founded on a strong security posture and ability to defend against harm and minimise risk. The Group SOC team are accountable for response to cyber security events and incidents using an intelligence led approach. This includes cyber incident response and proactive threat hunting, leveraging tools and data to identify and contain threats and vulnerabilities within Gamma’s networks and IT systems.

What will you be doing day-to-day?

Using practical knowledge and experience of day-to-day Cyber security operations to respond to events and escalations from our 24/7 Managed SOC.

Driving calm and effective response to cyber security issues.

Delivering situation reports to varied stakeholders, using strong verbal, visual & written communication skills. Ability to present to Senior Manager level.

Applying your operational technical expertise and knowledge of Mitre ATT&CK Framework to improve detections and proactively hunt for threats.

Analysing data, optimising and automating SOC operations using coding and scripting skills, e.g. Python, PowerShell, Bash.

Persuading, influencing, and motivating others, with the right sense of urgency, without having formal authority.

Fostering a strong security culture by building strong relationships with internal teams and contributing to security awareness across the group.

Building external relationships with other SOCs (peers, customers and vendors).

Periodic travel to other Gamma offices for meetings, and workshops will be required, and we encourage you to attend external security community events.

What you’ll bring

You don’t need experience in everything listed—but we’re especially keen to hear from people with some of the following skills:

Experienced in handling Cyber security events.

Knowledge and experience of implementing, maintaining, and using SOC tooling, e.g. SIEM / SOAR.

Conversant with MITRE ATT&CK and its utilisation for SOC and Cyber security.

Understanding of security tooling such as Crowdstrike Falcon, Microsoft Defender XDR, Tenable.

Proven problem solver, able to demonstrate a positive and pragmatic mentality in the face of challenges.

Ability to work within hybrid and virtual teams.

Ability to manage time effectively and estimate work required to complete tasks.

Member of professional security body, eg. Mitre, ISC2, SANS etc.

Knowledge of tool- based threat hunts.

Experience of incident response and incident management.

Knowledge of querying languages, KQL, SQL, RegEx etc.

Experience with data analysis or machine learning.

Knowledge or experience of automation and agentic AI within SOC.
