Job Description

Our client is an established MSSP operating across Australia and New Zealand. Their customer base is growing fast, and so is the analyst team behind it, now more than 35 people in region.

They have an immediate need for a SOC Analyst in Auckland, on a permanent hybrid basis, two days a week in the office.

What sets this SOC apart is how the work is structured. Triage is capped at 20 hours a week (usually 15). The rest of your time goes to your own customers, training, vendor updates and team meetings.

Senior analysts mentor the team. Peers back each other up rather than handing work up a chain.

The role

  • Triage and investigate alerts across Sentinel, Rapid7 and CrowdStrike NG-SIEM; tune detections to cut noise
  • Be the named analyst and service advisor for your own MDR customers
  • Run each customer's monthly service review and follow through on actions
  • Deliver Service Requests and security advice, presenting to technical and non-technical audiences
  • On-call responsibilities once established, 9-12 months in

What you'll need to succeed;

  • Hands-on SOC experience, or a strong sysadmin background moving into security
  • SIEM experience, ideally Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike Falcon / NG-SIEM or Rapid7 InsightIDR
  • KQL and detection tuning experience is a strong advantage
  • Clear, confident communication, and comfort leading customer conversations
  • A curious, investigative mindset with an eye for what looks wrong
  • Ability to work independently early on; this is not a graduate role
  • AU / NZ citizenship preferred

Suitably skilled candidates are encouraged to apply with an achievement-based CV.

About The Cache Group

At The Cache Group, we know the value delivered by any solution is powered by the people behind it. Our business has a simple philosophy – get the right people on board, arm them with the ongoing support and knowledge they need to do their job, nurture their professional passion, and the rest takes care of itself.

The Cache Group has been in operation for almost 10 years. People strategies are at the centre of what we do. Our founding Directors and owners have over 50 years’ direct experience in the IT industry between them, with a combined 30 of these delivering strategic recruitment outcomes for our customers. Originally focused on IT Recruitment, Workforce Design and Training, over time and supported by our customers, our business has expanded to include a unique offering in personal brand marketing and change management.

Our Marketing practice, championing thought leadership, is managed by individuals with over 20 years’ experience teaching at university and corporate levels and a team at hand made up of award-winning writers, and former political advisers and speechwriters to numerous State & Federal Government Ministers.

Our Training and Facilitation practice is spearheaded by a highly experienced facilitator and change manager who has driven change initiatives for some of Australia’s largest organisations. Managing an extended team of fantastic trainers and coaches when he is not making us laugh during his moonlighting escapades as a part time stand-up comedian.

Our logo, the Inunnguaq, a stone structure shaped like a person and used by the Inuit to share knowledge of their landscape, has been used to mark hunting and fishing sites in the Arctic for thousands of years, as well as good Kayak landing spots. Aptly chosen (not just because of our owner’s love of kayaking), but as it represents knowledge given freely, and care for those who will come after us; two things core to the way we approach things at The Cache Group.
