Within our Utilities Engineering business, we design and deliver nationally significant energy infrastructure ranging from HV substations and transmission lines up to 500kV, through to power generation, electrical distribution networks and renewable energy assets.

About the role

Your first assignment will be HumeLink West, the UGL–CPB Joint Venture delivering 148 km of 500 kV transmission lines (over 360 towers) between the Maragle substation area and Wagga Wagga. You’ll be based between the Transgrid project office in Haymarket and UGL’s North Sydney engineering headquarters, working closely with project and delivery teams

As a Senior Transmission Lines Design Engineer, you’ll deliver highquality structural designs across transmission line projects and tenders, contributing from concept through to delivery. Youll work closely with the inhouse design team, stakeholders and clients to produce designs that are safe, compliant and buildable.

Key responsibilities

  • Produce and review structural designs for transmission line support structures and foundations across tenders and projects.

  • Provide senior technical input and interface with clients, project teams and internal engineers on design matters.

  • Lead or contribute to design planning, engineering programs and budget estimates as part of tender and delivery teams.

  • Manage geotechnical inputs, including preparing investigation briefs, reviewing reports and coordinating with external consultants.

  • Undertake Designer, Checker and Verifier roles and support the development and mentoring of junior engineers.

About you

  • Experience in a similar role with hands-on experience designing transmission lines and related infrastructure.

  • Strong working knowledge of AS/NZS 7000, AS/NZS 1170, AS/NZS 3600, AS 2159 and related standards.

  • Degreequalified in Structural Engineering (or equivalent).

  • Engineers Australia member with (or working towards) CPEng, NER and RPEQ registration.

  • Confident communicator with a collaborative mindset, comfortable engaging clients and technical teams.
