[What the role is]

You will play a strategic leadership role in contributing towards NAC’s mission to champion the creation and appreciation of the arts as an integral part of the lives of people in Singapore. The purpose of this role is to formulate strategies, develop and implement programmes and initiatives, and provide strategic oversight of NAC’s support schemes to create a strong ecosystem of companies, practitioners and intermediaries.

You will lead and support the growth and development of performing arts professionals and organisations to create quality work and programmes, engage new and diverse audiences locally and internationally, and support their continued professional development. You will provide strategic guidance and mentorship to junior team members whilst driving innovation in programme delivery.

[What you will be working on]

You will work with the Head of Department (Performing Arts) and Team Lead (Special Projects) to:

• Assess grant applications to provide robust recommendations that are aligned with the grant schemes’ criteria, funding guidelines, and NAC’s strategic priorities with a focus on Multiculturalism in Arts;

• Review grant applications to detect inconsistencies/fraud and ensure compliance with policies and procedures;

• Communicate with grant applicants/recipients to ensure clear understanding of requirements and deliverables, providing relevant and timely advice or support where necessary;

• Follow up on awarded grants to ensure projects are on track for completion and perform grants closure processes to verify deliverable achievement and programme compliance;

• Provide feedback and recommendations to department grants coordinator to inform policy and process improvements;

• Conduct regular meetings and check-ins with primary stakeholders including Major Company and project grant recipients, arts groups, artists, key opinion leaders (KOLs), etc;

• Lead stakeholder engagement with major grant applicants/recipients, providing strategic guidance and support;

• Conduct strategic analysis of local and international trends to inform policy and programme design;

• Provide thought leadership on industry trends and strategic priorities for the performing arts sector, especially towards Multiculturalism in Arts;

• Assist in driving policy development and process improvements through strategic analysis and recommendations;

• Where required, represent NAC at high-level industry events and strategic networking platforms;

• Where assigned, undertake cross-department and/or cross-agency (e.g. STB, SportSG, NHB, MCCY) projects to achieve NAC’s/WOG’s strategic priorities;

• Attend performances regularly, engage with stakeholders at networking sessions, and proactively manage stakeholders if issues arise;

• Provide senior secretariat support and strategic input to President Challenge's Multiculturalism Panel; and

• Mentor and guide junior team members in their professional development.

[What we are looking for]

• Good degree with at least 4 to 6 years of relevant working experience, including some leadership experience.

• Comprehensive knowledge of arts genres with deep understanding of local and international arts ecosystems.

• Strong ability in grants administration, policy development, and strategic programme management.

• Strong knowledge of internationalisation strategies and global arts sector dynamics.

• Proven ability to lead research initiatives and strategic analysis of sector trends and opportunities.

• Advanced data interpretation skills for strategic decision-making and policy development.

• Effective interpersonal and communication skills for senior stakeholder management.

• Strategic thinking ability with proven track record of driving organisational change and respond to the evolving needs of the arts ecosystem.

• Meticulous and organised, with a process-oriented working style and adept at project management; focusing on delivering impactful outcomes.

• Networking experience within arts communities and cultural institutions will be a bonus.
