Position Purpose
• To manage and Coordinate Group reporting requirements
including the development of guidelines, templates and instructions for the
business areas and the implementation of internal controls to ensure the
delivery of timeous and accurate information. • To review, aggregate and
consolidate statutory financial and monthly management information in order to
ensure the delivery of accurate and timeous reports in accordance and
compliance with the Group reporting standards and requirements. • To ensure
that all accounting policies and procedures are compliant with all statutory
regulations and accounting standards and that they are communicated to the
business areas.
Position Outputs
• Analyse new accounting standards to assess the impact and changes in
the reporting requirements and develop new processes to ensure
compliance with new standards
• Assist in developing adequate levels of internal control throughout
the business to ensure the quality and usability of incoming information
that it is adequately supported and explained where necessary
• Compile and roll out reporting templates, reporting instructions
and reporting requirements to be used on a periodic basis, ensuring
alignment with the requirements of Transnet
• Conduct follow up with appropriate finance personnel for answers on
technical queries arising from the reporting of the different business
areas and support units.
• Perform timely periodic production of the financial consolidations
and statistical reporting in order to enforce the financial and statistical
reporting calendar and maintain compliance with the prescribed format
for the Group
• Review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and
audit committee submissions and review of all financial information
included within the annual report.
• Review the monthly trial balance to ensure that it complies with IFRS
prior to inclusion in the monthly reporting in conjunction with the
finance managers responsible for the ledger.
• Assist in planning and managing the external audit process, including
determining the areas to be covered and the extent and scope of the
audit, providing facilitation services and ensuring that all queries are
satisfactorily resolved, and audit packs are timeously approved
• Coordinate the follow-up of issues related to statutory reporting in the
external audit management letter or in the internal control reports and
ensure that they are dealt with promptly and in a satisfactory manner and that there are no repeat occurrences • Lead and manage staff within the department so that they meet the objectives of their roles and obtain the necessary guidance and
development
• Assist the Head in ensuring that the spend of the Statutory Reporting
section is well managed and that the allocated budget is not exceeded
unless approval is obtained.
Qualifications and Experience
•CA (SA) qualification. • 8-10 years’ experience in Finance with at least 5 years at management level • Direct experience in statutory reporting will be preferred. • Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment. • Must undergo Lifestyle Audit.
