Help us deliver a better tomorrow

Australia Post is delivering for all Australians. From the vehicles that we drive, to the small businesses that make our communities thrive. We’re delivering for the environment, for our communities, for our customers and for our people. We’re moving forward and we want you to come along for the ride.

About the opportunity

We’re looking for a strategic and proactive Senior Health, Safety & Wellbeing Risk and Assurance Specialist to join our Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) within People & Culture. This team is modernising how safety is embedded across Australia Post, delivering integrated, enterprise-wide frameworks that support both operational and support functions.

In this role, you’ll lead the implementation and continuous improvement of HSW risk and assurance programs, working closely with the business to embed practical, fit-for-purpose solutions.

This is a full-time ongoing opportunity open to applicants based in Sydney NSW and Melbourne VIC.

What you’ll deliver with us

As the Senior HSW Risk and Assurance Specialist, you’ll lead critical risk and assurance programs across the enterprise and partner with leaders to embed robust risk management practices. You’ll translate strategy into actionable plans, deliver data-driven assurance outcomes, and act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders.

You’ll also

  • Lead critical risk management and control effectiveness programs, including tools to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Deliver and continuously improve the HSW audit and assurance framework aligned to regulatory and self-insurance requirements.
  • Analyse performance data and develop metrics to drive insights, reporting, and targeted risk reduction.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships across Risk, Audit, operations, and senior leadership to embed assurance practices.
  • Support governance frameworks, capability uplift, and contribute to enterprise safety strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.

About you

You’re a pragmatic and collaborative safety professional who operates confidently in complex environments. You bring a strong balance of strategic thinking and operational delivery, with the ability to translate plans into meaningful outcomes.

You build credibility quickly, influence at all levels, and are passionate about improving health, safety and wellbeing. You’re equally focused on delivering results and uplifting capability across the organisation.

You’ll also need

  • Experience leading HSW risk, assurance, and compliance programs in a large, complex, regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, risk frameworks, and experience in audits, investigations, and assurance activities.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate across business units and external partners (e.g. regulators).
  • Strong analytical capability, with experience using data to inform decisions and improve safety outcomes.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (desirable), with Lead Auditor and/or investigation experience highly regarded.

How we’ll deliver for you

  • Hybrid work model (between the office, travel to relevant work sites and being based at home)
  • Be part of a collaborative as well as autonomous work environment
  • We’re delivering together
