Job Description

The Senior Hydrogeologist is responsible for leading the assessment, planning, design, implementation, and optimization of mine dewatering, groundwater management, and hydrogeological monitoring programs that support safe and efficient mining operations. This position provides technical leadership for site-wide hydrogeological activities and serves as a key advisor to mine planning, geotechnical engineering, operations, environmental, and processing teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for mine dewatering, groundwater management, and surface water management programs.
  • Develop and execute strategic dewatering plans aligned with short-, medium-, and long-range mine plans.
  • Lead the design, construction, and commissioning of dewatering wells, pumping systems, horizontal drains, piezometers, monitoring wells, and related infrastructure.
  • Lead weekly dewatering and water management meetings with cross-functional site stakeholders.
  • Develop, calibrate, and maintain groundwater flow models, water balance models, and predictive hydrogeological analyses to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare technical reports, memoranda, presentations, and regulatory documentation that communicate findings, recommendations, and project status.
  • Manage hydrogeological consultants, drilling contractors, and service providers, including scope development, contractor oversight, and performance evaluation.
  • Prepare annual operating and capital budgets for hydrogeological programs, including drilling, monitoring systems, dewatering infrastructure, groundwater modeling, and consulting services.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior hydrogeologists, technicians, interns, and other site personnel.
