Job Description

In this role, you'll:


Working as part of a team delivering network performance optimisation and technology enabled traffic signal improvements across NSW, you’ll contribute to a safer, more reliable, and more efficient transport network for millions of customers.


This permanent role will see you lead the planning, evaluation and delivery of traffic control signal optimisation activities with a focus on developing new operating parameters for SCATS, supporting bus priority initiatives, and driving high quality technical services that enhance network efficiency and multimodal integration. You will be the key subject matter expert (SME) leading development of concept of operations for integrating new and emerging technologies into our Road Network Operations


You’ll work closely with cross functional teams, gaining exposure to complex city shaping projects and opportunities to deepen your expertise in advanced traffic management technologies.


You will pioneer innovative optimisation strategies and introduce smarter, more effective approaches to traffic signal operations in a complex, high demand transport environment, balancing safety, public transport priority, road user needs and operational constraints.


Your strong technical capability, analytical mindset and stakeholder focused approach, formed across traffic engineering, transport operations or integrated network management environments, will see you solve complex operational challenges, lead high quality assessments, and bring evidence based recommendations that improve network performance and customer outcomes.


This is a permanent Hybrid role with five days a month to be spent at Parramatta Office and a further five days to be spent at either the Parramatta office, or another TfNSW location

About you


You’re recognised as a skilled problem solver, adept at communicating complex engineering concepts and experienced in traffic signal design, SCATS operations, data driven optimisation, and the delivery of technical projects within scope, time and quality expectations.


Strong knowledge of road network management, multimodal integration, and bus priority strategies.


Experience in delivering technical services and projects within agreed scope, time, cost, and quality requirements.


Tertiary qualification in related discipline or equivalent experience in transport management and traffic engineering practice.
