Job Title: SNOWCAT OPERATOR CANDIDATE

Rate of Pay: $20 per hour

Shift: Seasonal Full-time. Must be available 7 days a week. Shifts vary depending on weather; Evening and night shifts

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly

SUMMARY:

A Snowcat Operator Candidate ensures all aspects of mountain readiness are his/her focus, by meeting mountain grooming and safety standards using heavy mountain equipment, in order to create a safe mountain experience for resort guests. The Candidate position is a season long position, at the end of the season will be evaluated for following seasons.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Training to operate a Prinoth and PistenBully snow groomer without supervision.
  • Learning different controls and basic grooming patterns.
  • Basic mechanical understanding of snow groomer to perform daily inspections and maintenance.
  • Possess a basic understanding and knowledge of winter grooming techniques.
  • Be familiar with Sundance slopes to ensure quality grooming product.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter and work under unsupervised conditions for periods of time.
  • Candidate must meet our insurance requirements for driving vehicles.
  • Have a solid understanding of risk management and make decisions based on this knowledge.
  • Must be able to handle all types of outdoor weather conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Previous experience with heavy equipment operation.
  • Previous experience driving snow grooming equipment.
  • Use of a 2-way radio is frequently required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move between 50 and 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level working around be able to handle all types of outdoor weather conditions.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
