Applications are invited for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Psychological Clinical Science at Southern Methodist University to begin August 1, 2027.
The successful candidate will contribute meaningfully to our doctoral program in clinical science, which is a member of the Academy of Psychological Clinical Science and accredited by the American Psychological Association. Candidates should demonstrate the potential to establish and maintain a rigorous and highly productive research program and obtain external funding. Candidates also must be committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
We especially welcome candidates whose research complements existing strengths within the Department of Psychology, while bringing new theoretical or methodological perspectives to our clinical science program. The candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with researchers across the University and to develop research programs that take advantage of SMU's strengths in data science, computing, and related areas, such as through the O'Donnell Data Science and Research Computing Institute. The Department of Psychology is seeking candidates with a strong and innovative program of research addressing important questions in Psychological Clinical Science. We welcome applicants working across the full range of clinical science, including, but not limited to, etiology, mechanisms, prevention, assessment, and treatment of psychopathology (broadly defined). Candidates with doctoral training in closely related areas of psychology whose research programs are strongly aligned with Psychological Clinical Science are also encouraged to apply; however, preference will be given to applicants with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology.
