Job Description

MAG seeks a definitive source of knowledge from a Close Air Support SME who will contribute their expertise to enhance organizational efficiency. The candidate must be a current and qualified fighter pilot with combat deployments and experience with SOF ground units.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Candidates must be highly experienced and proficient in the close air support mission.
  • The candidate will evaluate organizational needs, determine suitable technical solutions, and ensure defined requirements.
  • Conduct classroom instruction to SOF JTACs on weaponeering, airspace DE confliction measures and fighter aircraft capabilities.
  • Conduct pre mission brief with Special Forces Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) and MAG flight crew prior to conducting dry CAS missions.
  • Conduct dry CAS missions from MAG aircraft simulating fighter aircraft, but CAS SME, will not pilot MAG aircraft.
  • CAS SME will have video feed from on-board sensor and communicate with JTACs via tactical comms conducting NTISR, Troops in Contact, convoy escort and variations of tactical scenarios.
  • CAS SME will attend post mission debriefs/After Action Reviews with SOF JTACs, provide feedback on CAS controls, discuss best practices and lessons learned.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Current and qualified fighter pilot with combat deployments.
  • Experience with SOF ground units.
  • Combat Flying and CAS Mission Experience.
  • The candidate must be highly experienced and proficient in the Close Air Support mission.

Education:

  • Former Fighter Pilot School Graduate
  • Formal Technical Training

Other Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have an Active Secret clearance
