Purpose

We are seeking an analytical professional who excels at solving inventory and purchasing challenges through data analysis, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. Based at the Regional Support Center, the SMS Analyst partners with Branch Operations, Purchasing, Category Management, and Supply Chain to optimize inventory performance, improve product availability, and support data-driven decisions. This role analyzes inventory and purchasing data, develops reporting and insights, and recommends strategies that enhance service levels, inventory investment, and operational performance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and passionate about using data to solve business problems.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Analysis & Replenishment

  • Analyze inventory, sales, and demand data to identify risks and opportunities, and recommend actions to improve product availability, inventory investment, and service levels.
  • Maintain and optimize inventory and replenishment settings, including reorder points, safety stock, forecasting parameters, inventory targets, and buy packs.
  • Monitor inventory performance, including ABC Service Level, Days On Hand, and replenishment effectiveness, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support inventory optimization initiatives, including new product introductions, product transitions, discontinued items, inventory rationalization, and branch inventory balancing.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and performance metrics to support inventory and purchasing decisions.
  • Present inventory performance, trends, KPIs, and actionable recommendations to leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Support data-driven decision making through reporting and business analytics.

Inventory Data Integrity & Process Improvement

  • Maintain inventory master data integrity and identify root causes of inventory, replenishment, and ERP data issues.
  • Improve inventory processes, replenishment automation, reporting, and system efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate inventory redistribution, vendor return programs, and excess inventory reduction activities across the branch network.

Stakeholder Engagement & Development

  • Partner with Branch Operations, Purchasing, Category Management, and Distribution teams to support inventory strategies and improve service levels.
  • Provide inventory planning guidance and recommendations to branch personnel, including replenishment, inventory transfers, and inventory best practices.
  • Train and support branch inventory contacts and operational teams on inventory management processes and tools.

  • Reduce excess, slow-moving, obsolete, and stockout inventory through inventory optimization initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in inventory planning, purchasing, replenishment, demand planning, supply chain analytics, or a related analytical role.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Experience working with ERP and inventory management systems; familiarity with Solar Eclipse/e-Term Eclipse or similar ERP platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze inventory and operational data to support business decisions and process improvements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting inventory planning and replenishment across multiple branch locations.
  • Experience working with branch operations to improve inventory performance, service levels, and inventory investment.
  • Experience in wholesale distribution (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, industrial, kitchen & bath, appliance, or similar industries).
  • Experience with inventory optimization, inventory redistribution, vendor return programs, and service-level management.
  • Working knowledge of SQL or other data analytics tools.
  • Experience with Solar Eclipse/e-Term Eclipse ERP.
