What will you do?
A day in the life of an Inventory Analyst at icebreaker and Smartwool looks a little like this.
As the Inventory Analyst for Smartwool and icebreaker, you will run the monthly inventory management cadence across both brands and all channels—consolidating cross-functional inputs and recommending actions that improve inventory productivity and service outcomes.
This role owns inventory analytics and reporting (SAP and Excel), including service and days-of-supply reporting, inventory composition/utilization views, and excess forecasting. You will also support inventory control activities (movement/adjustment audits and physical inventory review) and execute key operational processes such as excess governance, irregular/second-quality supply disposition, stock transfers, and sample purchase requests/shipments.
Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.

Lead reporting automation initiatives to reduce manual effort and improve consistency.
Manage irregular/second-quality supply from sock mills, including visibility to supply, coordination with Sales to disposition units, and creation/issuance of purchase orders to sock mill vendors as required.
Provide decision support for inventory budgeting, including excess, days of supply, and inventory dollars; communicate risks/opportunities and recommend actions to align to financial and inventory targets.
Create purchase requisitions for regional samples and track/report sample shipments through final destination; maintain visibility and ensure timely delivery.
Own excess inventory reporting and forecasting; support the monthly excess review meeting by preparing materials, coordinating attendance, tracking action items, and driving accountability to outcomes.
Support ad hoc analytical requests across Operations and partner teams related to inventory management. Including but not limited to: price increases, packaging changes, past-due shipments, publishing discontinued lists, updating inventory class codes and auditing seasonal workbench.
