This role will own and execute the end-to-end smart meter adoption portfolio, ensuring UW hits installation targets while improving customer experience and operational efficiency.
This includes developing targeted engagement campaigns, managing performance against rollout KPIs, and aligning smart metering with UW’s broader growth strategy.
This is available as a permanent role, or 12 month FTC- dependant on candidates preference.

Essential requirements:
Energy Sector Expertise: Deep understanding of regulated industries and smart metering.
Project & Portfolio Delivery: Proven track record managing complex, cross-functional projects, programmes, or initiatives from planning through to delivery.
Autonomy & SME Experience: Ability to work independently, execute tasks autonomously, or act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
Stakeholder & Communication Skills: Exceptional presentation, communication, and influencing skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities across diverse teams.
Data-Driven Performance: Experience using data and analytics to identify opportunities, manage risks, and drive performance improvements.
Desirable Requirements
Campaign Management: Experience driving customer engagement or behavioural change campaigns.
KPI Reporting: Knowledge of operational performance management and KPI reporting.
Vendor Relations: Experience collaborating with and managing third-party suppliers and partners.

Reports to the Senior Energy Operations Manager in the Energy Operations Department. You will be an independent contributor who acts as the central coordinator across Energy Operations, Marketing, Customer Service, Commercial, Data, and external partners to remove barriers and increase uptake.

About the role
You will drive the smart meter strategy by conducting precise customer targeting, segmentation, and operational analysis to identify new adoption opportunities. By monitoring industry and regulatory changes, you will ensure long-term strategic alignment while maintaining full project leadership over smart metering initiatives from concept to completion—tracking milestones, risks, and dependencies to deliver on time.
Campaign Management & Customer Experience
Campaign Collaboration: Partner with Marketing to design, deliver, and evaluate smart meter acquisition and behavioural change campaigns.
Value Propositions: Develop customer incentives, propositions, and messaging that enhance journeys and boost conversion rates.
Performance, Data & AI
KPI Ownership: Own smart meter rollout KPIs, providing clear, data-driven performance updates and risk analysis to senior leadership.
Tech & Automation: Collaborate with Data and Technology teams to leverage automation, analytics, and AI-driven solutions to optimise delivery.
Continuous Improvement: Spearhead initiatives to reduce failed appointments and eliminate operational barriers.
Stakeholder & Vendor Relationship Management
Cross-Functional Lead: Act as the primary business lead for smart meter adoption, building strong ties across Operations, Marketing, Commercial, and Customer Service.
External Partners: Coordinate activity and align strategic goals with third-party metering partners and suppliers.
Facilitate Governance: Lead cross-functional working groups and governance forums to drive best practices across the business.
