Job Description

AIM — Empowering Success in Every Word

CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY: Speech-Language Pathologist / SLP (1099 Independent Contractor)

Tacoma, Washington — Bilingual or Monolingual
AIM (Assessment Intervention Management) isn't your typical services company. Recognized as a Best Place to Work, Top Workplaces honoree, and certified Great Place to Work, we've spent over a decade reimagining how special education services get delivered — pairing exceptional clinicians with purpose-built technology we design in-house. We build the systems that let therapists focus on what matters: students.
Built in Texas, where we serve 200+ schools, AIM is now bringing that same model to the Puget Sound — and we're looking for Tacoma-area SLPs to help lead the way. If you're an experienced SLP who wants the freedom of independent practice with the backing of a creative, forward-thinking partner, let's talk.

WHY CONTRACT WITH AIM

  • True flexibility — You control your caseload, calendar, and workload. Take on what fits your life.
  • Innovative tools — Access to AIM's proprietary technology suite, designed to streamline documentation and therapy management.
  • Testing kits and protocols provided — We equip you with current instruments so you're never fronting materials costs.
  • A collaborative clinical community — Optional monthly professional development and a network of experienced clinicians.
  • Ground-floor opportunity — Be part of establishing AIM's presence in Washington, with steady referral volume as our district partnerships grow.

COMPENSATION

  • Competitive contract rates commensurate with experience, paid per agreed terms.
  • Engagement contingent on clearing the fingerprint-based background check required for work in Washington public schools.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

  • Plan and provide individual and group therapy aligned with IEP goals
  • Evaluate student progress and readiness for dismissal from services
  • Conduct independent evaluations to assess eligibility for speech-language services
  • Participate in IEP meetings to support appropriate placement and goal setting
  • Collaborate with teachers to support communication skills through classroom activities
  • Provide guidance to school personnel on identifying and understanding communication deficits
  • Communicate therapy goals and progress with colleagues, students, and parents
  • Support ongoing evaluation of speech-language services and recommend improvements
  • Assist in the selection of equipment and instructional materials
  • Compile and maintain accurate, timely reports and records meeting district and state requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • Washington Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certificate for speech-language pathologists, issued by OSPI (required for practice in Washington public schools)
  • Washington Department of Health SLP license and/or ASHA CCC-SLP preferred
  • Valid background check clearing you to work in Washington public schools (fingerprint-based, per OSPI requirements)
  • Valid driver's license

Experienced out-of-state SLPs: Washington offers a Conditional ESA pathway that allows qualified candidates to begin work while completing full certification. Ask us about it.
PRACTICAL NOTES

  • Some travel to campus sites within the Tacoma / Pierce County service area
  • Light lifting and transport of therapy and test materials

AIM Educate

About AIM Educate

We are a team of seasoned education professionals with more than 500 years of combined experience supporting students, schools, and families across Texas. What started as a network of specialists providing evaluations and consultation throughout the greater San Antonio area has evolved into AIM—Assessment, Intervention & Management—the three pillars that guide everything we do.

Through AIM Educate (our partner division), we collaborate with over 45 school districts and charter networks across South Texas, providing contract services that include Licensed Specialists in School Psychology (LSSPs), speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, counselors, special education coordinators, and behavioral therapists. Our experts help districts stay compliant, reduce caseloads, and strengthen their special education programs with scalable, student-centered solutions.

Through AIM Educate Private Clinic (our private division), we work directly with families to provide psycho-educational evaluations, homeschool support, tutoring, test prep, and college advising. Our goal is to help every learner understand their unique profile and reach their full potential—whether that means identifying a learning difference, finding the right academic supports, or building confidence for what comes next.

At AIM, we believe better understanding leads to better outcomes. Whether you’re a school in need of support or a family seeking answers, we’re here to bridge the gap between potential and progress.
