Job Description

This position will be performing manual labor and skilled work while assisting in a variety of mountain operations projects including clearing and preparing job sites, loading and delivering materials, general construction activities, and maintaining overall safety of the worksite.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Provide daily labor, as directed, for maintenance of mountain improvements and ski trails to include: trail restoration practices, mountain trash removal, chainsaw operation in brushing, felling, and bucking.
• Clearing/preparing/revegetation of job sites, loading and unloading and delivery of materials needed for projects.
• Provide labor, as directed, for general construction, daily operational duties, and maintenance projects.
• General construction activities include levels, lifts, drills, grinders, chainsaws, pole saws, brush cutters, and other related tools.
• Operate heavy equipment as directed, including excavators, loaders, skid steers, and dump trucks; follow all safety protocols and conduct pre-operational inspections prior to each use.
• Become familiar with all related maintenance tools, equipment and parts; including basic safe usage. Report any damage to tools (motorized and non-motorized) to Supervisors.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices of work areas, work sites, and company vehicles.
• Be competent in all departmental safety precautions, policies and procedures; maintain the safety of the worksite.
• Cleans and maintains tools and equipment.
• Perform and document daily equipment checks.
• Assist with overall department, team and company communications.
• Document work performed each day in the logbook.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Prior construction experience preferred.
• Prior Mtn Operations experience preferred.
• Experience with basic hand tools, hydraulics, rigging, power tools, test equipment etc.
• Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, skid steers, and/or dump trucks preferred.
• Ability to read and understand blue prints and associated technical documents preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Requires possession of valid Class C driver license with a driving record meeting the minimum standards required by the resort's insurance carrier. Apprentice Level in any one trade would be preferred. Understanding of lock-out/tag-out procedures. Heavy equipment operator certification or documented training preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Please be advised that the location of this position is in the mountains. Inclement weather can and will be encountered on a regular basis, especially throughout the winter. Reliable transportation to and from work is a necessity. Access to a 4WD or AWD vehicle is highly recommended.
