HPE is seeking an experienced Skills Analyst and thought leader to drive HPE’s enterprise skills strategy across technical and non‑technical roles, with a strong focus on how AI, automation, and digital agents are reshaping work. This role leads role and skills mapping at scale and influences how skills are defined, governed, and applied across the organization to enable data‑driven talent decisions today and prepare the workforce for what’s next. Positioned within the Learning & Development organization, this role connects skills intelligence to workforce planning, learning strategy, career pathways, and talent mobility. The role partners closely with business leaders, HR, and IT to ensure skills data remains relevant in a rapidly evolving environment, particularly as AI accelerates role change, creates new capabilities, and shifts proficiency expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Deconstruct complex technical and non‑technical roles into clear, observable, future‑relevant skills, including skills emerging from AI, automation, and human‑machine collaboration
  • Define skills at the right level of precision (foundational, working, advanced, expert), balancing usability with scalability and avoiding unnecessary complexity
  • Lead enterprise role‑to‑skills mapping across job families, levels, career paths, and learning programs, ensuring alignment with business strategy and workforce priorities
  • Own and continuously evolve the enterprise skills taxonomy, including skills, certifications, and proficiency models, incorporating emerging and obsolescent skills driven by AI and technology shifts
  • Partner with Workforce Management, HRIS, Business Units, Global Functions, and IT to embed skills into end‑to‑end talent systems and platforms, shaping how skills enable workforce planning, learning recommendations, mobility, and skills‑based decisions
  • Assess and interpret skills data to identify capability gaps, adjacencies, readiness risks, and future skill demand signals, translating insights into executive‑ready recommendations
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on skills strategy, including how AI and automation are changing role design, proficiency expectations, and capability investments
  • Establish and sustain governance standards to ensure consistency, quality, and relevance across skills frameworks, data sources, and tools
  • Produce high‑quality deliverables including role‑based skill profiles, skills architectures, skills matrices, and strategic insights for executive and enterprise audiences
  • Continuously test, learn, and evolve the skills approach as job architectures, technologies, and workforce models change
  • Perform other responsibilities as the scope and maturity of HPE’s skills strategy evolves
  • Leads multiple large projects and programs with global and cross-organizational program teams
  • Develops strategy for projects and programs that significantly impact multiple businesses.
  • Ensures alignment of program priorities with business and L&D strategies.
  • Stays abreast of current market or technology trends, provides thought leadership, and consults on areas of expertise throughout the organization.

Education and Experience Required:

  • First level university degree (Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Information Systems, Data Analytics), advanced university degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Typically, 3+ years’ experience as a talent analyst, workforce planning analyst, organization designer, job architecture consultant, or L&D role focused on curriculum‑to‑skills alignment
  • Typically, 6+ years’ experience, including managing large complex projects or programs.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Deep expertise in skills analysis, skills or competency taxonomy design, workforce planning, job architecture, or closely related fields
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex and highly technical roles into practical, business‑relevant skills frameworks
  • Strong understanding of how AI, automation, and digital agents impact job design, skill requirements, and proficiency models
  • Advanced analytical, pattern‑recognition, and synthesis skills, with the ability to move from data to insight to action
  • Experience shaping enterprise‑scale frameworks and influencing decision‑making in complex, matrixed environments
  • Proven project leadership capabilities, including managing ambiguity, prioritizing progress over perfection, and delivering outcomes across multiple stakeholders
  • Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate tradeoffs, implications, and recommendations
  • Comfort operating as a thought partner to senior leaders and leading cross‑functional, global collaboration
  • Superior program and project management skills.
  • Superior facilitation and consulting skills.
  • Superior leadership, communication, change management, and project management skills.
  • Experience with skills‑based talent practices (hiring, mobility, learning)
  • Background in technology, engineering, or services organizations
  • Experience in large, matrixed, global enterprises
