Job Description

The Technician – Plumber is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of all plumbing systems across the resort. Working under the guidance of the Duty Engineer and Engineering leadership, this role ensures that guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities operate efficiently, safely, and in accordance with Rixos standards.

The position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a service-oriented mindset to support exceptional guest experiences in a luxury hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities

Plumbing Operations & Maintenance

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair plumbing systems including water supply, drainage, sanitary systems, and related fixtures.
  • Diagnose plumbing faults, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective solutions promptly.
  • Ensure all plumbing systems in guest rooms, public areas, and operational facilities are functioning efficiently and safely.
  • Perform preventive maintenance according to the established maintenance schedule.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency plumbing issues to minimize guest disruption.

Safety, Standards & Compliance

  • Follow all Rixos Engineering Policies & Procedures and operational standards.
  • Ensure full compliance with ISO Integrated Management Systems, including:
    • Quality Management (ISO 9001)
    • Environmental Management (ISO 14001)
    • Food Safety (ISO 22000)
    • Customer Complaint Handling (ISO 10002)
    • Health, Safety & Risk Management
  • Adhere strictly to safety guidelines, industry standards, and local regulations.
  • Support sustainability initiatives including water conservation, energy efficiency, and environmental protection.

Coordination & Reporting

  • Work collaboratively with other Engineering team members and departments to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors regarding job status, technical challenges, and required follow-ups.
  • Provide clear explanations when interacting with internal stakeholders regarding plumbing work carried out.

General Duties

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe condition.
  • Stay updated on plumbing technologies, techniques, and regulations relevant to hospitality operations.
  • Participate in Task Force Teams for new openings or special projects as assigned.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as required by Engineering Management.

Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma or Certificate in Plumbing or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a hotel, resort, or large commercial facility.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong technical plumbing skills
    • Ability to troubleshoot efficiently under pressure
    • Good communication skills in English
    • Team-oriented with a positive service attitude
