Job Description

Comprehensive knowledge applied to performing skilled activities which support manufacturing business needs. Works with relevant functions to select and utilize appropriate resources, tools, machinery and specialty equipment. Thoroughly understands the protocols of working safely with electricity and other energy sources with industrial equipment. Acts as a formal resource leading and coordinating others. Quickly and effectively adapts to change in the manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Significant work experience and in-depth knowledge obtained through specialized training and relevant experience.

Civil Infrastructure Maintenance

  • Monitor and maintain factory buildings, sheds, offices, utility structures, and boundary walls.
  • Carry out routine inspections to identify structural deterioration, cracks, settlement, corrosion, and other defects.
  • Coordinate repair and rehabilitation activities for civil assets.

Foundation and Structural Monitoring

  • Inspect equipment foundations, machine foundations, and RCC structures for damage or settlement.
  • Track foundation integrity and coordinate corrective measures when required.
  • Support civil works related to machinery relocation and new equipment installations.

Water Leakage Management

  • Identify and rectify roof leakages, wall seepages, underground pipeline leaks, and drainage issues.
  • Coordinate waterproofing works for roofs, terraces, basements, and water tanks.
  • Maintain records of recurring leakage issues and preventive actions.

Road and Pavement Maintenance

  • Inspect and maintain internal roads, parking areas, pathways, and loading/unloading zones.
  • Coordinate pothole repairs, resurfacing, road markings, and traffic safety measures.
  • Ensure proper stormwater drainage along roads and paved surfaces.

Drainage and Utility Systems

  • Maintain stormwater drains, manholes, culverts, and rainwater harvesting systems.
  • Ensure proper functioning of sewage and industrial drainage networks.
  • Monitor water conservation and utility infrastructure performance.

Safety Compliance

  • Ensure safe execution of civil maintenance activities.
  • Conduct site safety inspections and support compliance with HSE requirements.
  • Implement work permit systems, barricading, signage, and contractor safety practices.
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation.

Contractor Management

  • Supervise contractors and ensure quality workmanship.
  • Verify material quality and work completion as per specifications.
  • Monitor work progress, safety compliance, and schedule adherence.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare maintenance reports, inspection records, and asset condition assessments.
  • Track civil maintenance costs and support budget planning.
  • Maintain BOQs, work orders, drawings, and maintenance history records.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering.
  • 10-12 years of experience in industrial civil maintenance and Projects, construction, and facility management.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of RCC structures, industrial foundations, waterproofing, and building repairs.
  • Understanding of roads, drainage systems, and utility infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and MS Office applications.
  • Ability to prepare engineering drawings and BOQs and interpret them when required.
  • Basic understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.

Safety Compliance & HSE Management

  • Ensure full compliance with company HSE policies, statutory regulations, and industrial safety standards during execution of all civil maintenance activities.
  • Conduct regular workplace safety inspections of buildings, roads, roofs, drains, excavation areas, and construction zones to identify unsafe conditions and corrective actions.
  • Perform risk assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for civil maintenance and repair activities.
  • Verify implementation of Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements for activities such as:
    • Work at Height
    • Excavation and Trenching
    • Hot Work
    • Confined Space Entry
    • Demolition Activities
  • Ensure proper barricading, warning signage, access control, and traffic management around maintenance areas.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with safety requirements, PPE usage, and safe work practices.
  • Conduct safety induction training for contractors and workers before commencement of civil work.
  • Verify scaffolding, ladders, lifting equipment, and temporary structures for safe usage.
  • Ensure safe execution of roof leak repairs, waterproofing activities, and elevated work through fall protection systems.
  • Monitor excavation activities and ensure proper shoring, sloping, and underground utility identification before digging.
  • Participate in safety audits, safety walks, toolbox talks, and contractor review meetings.
  • Report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents through established reporting systems.
  • Support investigation of incidents, property damage, and near-miss events and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure emergency routes, fire exits, assembly points, and access roads remain unobstructed during maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with HSE teams for emergency preparedness drills and compliance audits.
  • Verify proper storage and handling of construction materials, chemicals, waterproofing compounds, and debris.
  • Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained at all work locations to prevent slips, trips, and fall hazards.
  • Monitor structural safety of deteriorated buildings, retaining walls, canopies, platforms, and civil infrastructure and initiate immediate risk mitigation measures when required.
  • Conduct pre-monsoon and post-monsoon inspections to identify structural and safety risks associated with water leakage, flooding, road damage, and drainage blockages.
  • Maintain safety records, inspection reports, permit records, training records, and compliance documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, sustainability, and risk reduction across all civil maintenance activities.
