Location: Delta, OH
Schedule: Full-Time
Employment Type: Permanent
Pay Rate: $20–$25 per hour (based on experience)
Work Environment: On-Site / Outdoor Utility Construction

MasTec Communications Group is looking for a hardworking and safety-focused Skilled Laborer/Groundman to join our growing telecom construction team in Delta, OH. In this role, you will support all phases of utility and telecommunications construction projects while working alongside experienced crews in a hands-on outdoor environment.

Responsibilities

Utility & Telecom Construction Support

• Perform manual labor tasks including digging trenches, unloading materials, and preparing job sites
• Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, picks, and other construction equipment
• Assist with building and maintaining aerial and underground cable systems
• Transport heavy equipment and materials to and from job sites
• Support telecom construction crews during installation and repair projects

Field Operations & Problem Solving

Troubleshoot field issues and assist crews with resolving job site challenges

• Learn to operate and maintain various telecom construction tools and equipment
• Follow project plans, safety standards, and company procedures
• Work outdoors in varying weather and job site conditions

Teamwork & Safety

• Collaborate closely with team members and supervisors on daily construction activities
• Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship
• Support long-term infrastructure and community improvement projects

Requirements

Must Have

• Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record
• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor labor
• Strong work ethic and commitment to safety
• Ability to work with construction crews in fast-paced field environments
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Interest in learning telecom construction trades and advancing within the industry

Nice to Have

• Previous utility, telecom, construction, or laborer experience
• Experience operating construction tools or heavy equipment
• Interest in fiber splicing, coax splicing, or directional drilling
• Military experience or MOS backgrounds related to construction, utilities, or telecommunications
