SKATING INSTRUCTOR

Position Type: Temporary Part Time
Number of Positions: Two (2)
Department: Community Services Department - Recreation Division
File Number: SV26-62
Location: Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre (265 Cannifton Road, Belleville, ON)
Hours: 1-10 hours per week – daytime, evening and weekend shifts
Employee Group Non-Union
Salary: $18.75 - $21.90 per hour

Closing Date: Tuesday, June 30, 2026at 4:30 PMPURPOSE AND SCOPE:
As a member of the Community Services Department, this position provides instruction, evaluation and administrative duties for our Learn-to-skate Programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Represent the City of Belleville in a professional manner with appropriate actions and conduct by following all of the Staff Policies and Procedures set out by the Department.
  • Responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants by following all rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations.
  • Must be knowledgeable of City Programs and have strong public relation skills.
  • Responsible for providing skating Instruction following the criteria set out in the City’s Learn to Skate Programs and levels.
  • Responsible for assisting the Head Skating Instructor with participant’s level assessments.
  • Assume the responsibility for assessing and responding in any emergencies, as they arise.
  • Complete all required administration, attendance, worksheets, report cards and paperwork for the City’s learn-to-skate programs.
  • Attend all Training and staff meetings as scheduled.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be at minimum enrolled in high school.
  • Previous skating experience.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR 'C' Certification or equivalent from a WSIB recognized organization.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (“CRC”) and Vulnerable Sector Screening(VSC) prior to commencing work at the City of Belleville.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High Five Principals of Healthy Child Development Certification.
  • Coaching/Instructing Certification (i.e. National Coaching Certificate).
  • Enrolled in a post-secondary school child-related, recreation, social work, or related field of study is an asset.
  • Experience as a skating instructor.
