Do you live and breathe skateboarding? We’re looking for a passionate and skilled Skateboarding Instructor to teach and motivate aspiring skaters of all ages and skill levels. Whether its helping beginners find their balance or guiding advanced riders to master new tricks, you’ll play a key role in building confidence and fostering a love for skateboarding. Classes and clinics run in the fall and spring with varying times and offering dates. Please note employee hours are part-time and based upon enrollments and cannot be guaranteed.

Available Positions:

• Basketball Instructor: Responsible for teaching skills, techniques, and strategies of basketball, focusing on areas such as dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and game tactics. Instructors provide personalized coaching, assess player performance, and develop training plans to help athletes improve their skills and achieve their full potential. Basketball runs during the fall, winter, and spring.
• Skateboard Instructor: Teaches individuals of all skill levels how to safely perform skateboarding techniques, including balance, tricks, and proper riding posture. They provide personalized coaching, emphasize safety practices, and help students build confidence and proficiency in the sport. Skateboard runs during the spring, summer, and fall.

Starting Pay Range: $17.99-$28.11

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be 18 years or older
• 8th grade education
• 6 months of teaching/instruction experience

NATURE OF WORK

This class is part of the Recreation Job Family. Incumbents performs routine work in connection with various recreation programs or activities. Instructors in this classification teach beginner level sports classes. Example; t-ball, basketball, soccer and sports/outdoors camps. May provide daily upkeep and light maintenance of equipment and facility.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable code of conduct rules; providing customer services. Work is performed in accordance with set procedures and guidelines, and deviation from those guidelines require approval.

1. Carrying out program plans, activities, and lessons. Sets up equipment or materials needed for a class and cleans up after program.
2. Provides excellence in customer service by answering questions and providing information to the public.
3. Maintains and prepares equipment and facility and maintains related records.
4. Enforces program and facility rules; provides emergency care and treatment as required.
5. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Supplemental information

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

8th grade education and 0-12 months of related experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be at least 18 years old. May require a State/Federal background check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
