Summary

Ensures all participants are skateboarding in a safe manner and following the rules set forth by the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Consistently watches for any unsafe conditions at the Park. Rope off any equipment deemed unsafe and report it to the Skate Park Director. Pick up any trash or debris that you see during your shift.

Teaches all lessons as assigned in a consistent manner as developed by the Department of Parks and Recreation. Always wears helmet and pads when teaching, guarding, or skating in the Skate Park.

Attends to all injuries and follow procedures as developed by the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Attends staff meetings and scheduled trainings.

Conducts a safety inspection of all equipment at the beginning of assigned shift. Checks and cleans Park surface removing any debris or trash prior to opening.

Completes reports (i.e., equipment safety check list, attendance, pad inventory) that are required during assigned shift and submit to the Skate Park Coordinator.

Provides customer service by answering all questions that are posed by the public; hours of operation, lesson times, etc.

Must arrive at the Skate Park on-time, preferably 15 minutes before scheduled shift.

Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Examples of duties

Must be at least 16 years of age, enjoy working with the public, and have a demonstrated understanding of skateboarding. Must have above average skateboarding skills and have a good working knowledge of how to teach children to skate. CPR and First Aid trained.
