Basic Purpose The Placement Program Coordinator, with guidance from the Deputy Director and Program Director, is responsible for coordination of the post residential placement, career readiness, and 12-month mentorship program for the student associates of the Sooner Job ChalleNGe, Oklahoma’s National Guard Job Challe NGe Program. As such, the Placement Program Coordinator supervises and evaluates all associated processes and results ensuring program goals are successfully met. Essential Functions:

  • Mentorship & Case Management Is directly responsible to ensure all associates are matched in a timely manner with a trained mentor IAW published guidelines. Ensure Job Placement Counselors (Case Managers) maintain contact and document the status of all graduates in the post residential program IAW published policies.
  • Placement This position carries an assigned caseload of associates. Works closely with the Counseling Department to provide positive placement for graduating student associates. Ensures that Job Placement Counselors record placement activities to include employment, education or military placement for their assigned caseloads.
  • Database Management / Department Administrative Supervise discretionary support staff to ensure that Post Residential and Mentorship data is entered into the designated tracking database in an accurate and timely manner to measure program progress and compliance.
  • Managerial Supervise, direct, and evaluate the performance of Job Placement Counseling staff to ensure Program goals are achieved. Coordinate with other departments on program improvement and cooperative activities. Enforces Program rules and policies in accordance with the Master Youth Programs Cooperative Agreement (MYPCA) and OMD Guidelines. Perform additional duties as required.
  • Direct Care: Supervises Job Placement Counselors performing direct care functions such as: individual job counseling, professional goals groups, assisting with transportation to and from various activities, and attending community service projects.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Qualified competitive candidates are strong multi-taskers, able to understand and track the distinctly different elements of the mentoring and post-residential department. Successful applicants will have experience in managing program data input into a large database and a background in recruiting mentors, working with youth at risk and an understanding of the dynamics of troubled youth. Success of department goals mandates cross coordination and teamwork with all other Program departments; therefore, the Placement Program Coordinator must be a team player. Must have good computer skills with Windows XP experience a plus. Ability to handle confidential information. Exercise judgment in interpreting and applying rules or policy.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, Public Administration or related field and two years of professional experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of qualifying experience for each year of the required education. Supervisory experience and experience working with at risk youth required.

Benefits This is a full-time state position that provides a percentage of matching contributions to employees’ retirement plans, 11 holidays, and a minimum of 15 days of annual and sick leave per year. The state also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents.

Notes This position is located at the Sooner Job Challenge Program in Oklahoma City, OK. Travel may be required at the expense of the employee to be reimbursed within 45 days of travel.
