Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or Geological Engineering.
Master’s degree in Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering (preferred, especially for senior roles).
Minimum 5–10 years experience in hydropower, dams, tunneling, mining, or large infrastructure projects
Conduct detailed geological and geomorphological mapping of the project area, including dam site, waterways, intake, and powerhouse.
Identify and characterize rock types, structural features (faults, joints, fractures), and soil formations.
Perform assessment of geological hazards (landslides, slope instability, erosion, seismic features).
Plan and supervise drilling, borehole logging, test pits, geophysical surveys, and in-situ testing (Lugeon, permeability tests).
Prepare detailed geological logs for core drilling and assist in rock mass classification (RMR, Q-system, GSI).
Evaluate foundation stability for dam structures, tunnels, surge shafts, and other components.
Provide recommendations on foundation treatment such as grouting, rock bolting, drainage, and slope stabilization
Develop geological prognosis for tunnel routes
Provide real-time geological mapping during tunnel excavation (face mapping).
Identify potential tunneling hazards (water ingress, squeezing ground, fault zones).
Recommend excavation methods and support systems based on ground conditions.
Assess groundwater conditions, aquifer behavior, seepage patterns, and potential impacts on civil structures.
Recommend groundwater control measures
Prepare geological reports, hazard assessments, and data summaries for feasibility, design, and construction stages.
Maintain daily site records and coordinate with design teams to update geological models.
Ensure compliance with technical specifications related to geological conditions.
Inspect excavation works, support installation, grouting operations, and slope/rock stability.
Work closely with civil, structural, and geotechnical engineers for design optimization.
Geological mapping, core logging, field inspection
Rock and soil mechanics
Dam design principles and foundation treatment
Strong experience in geological mapping, core logging, and geotechnical site investigations.
Proficiency in classifying rock mass (RMR, Q, GSI).
Knowledge of geophysical survey methods.
Familiarity with tunnel excavation methods (NATM/SEM) and rock support systems.
Understanding of foundation treatment techniques (grouting, shotcrete, anchors, drains).
