Job Description

OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Manages all special investigation claims activity for all lines of business.
  • Determines policy and procedure for auto/property claims handling to ensure a high level of service and claims quality for all lines.
  • Determines staffing requirements within area of responsibility and recommends organization changes to improve results.
  • Responsible for setting and meeting departmental goals for SIU and Property Subrogation to have a positive impact on production, cycle time, customer service and claims file quality.
  • Actively recruits, selects and develops SIU.
  • Prepares SIU performance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, development, coaching, and disciplining employees.
  • Assure quality responses and response times.
  • Lead comprehensive subrogation investigations for property claims, ensuring thorough analysis of recovery opportunities. Oversee settlement negotiations with the adverse party to maximize recovery dollars and protects corporate assets.
  • Continues job skill development through training and participation in special projects.
  • Oversee, compile and provide reporting for Claims department operations in accordance with pre-determined needs, and also create new reports based on findings and perceived need for presentation to management.
  • Actively lead and / or participate on projects related to claims or when Claims is a stakeholder, providing data and process expertise.
  • Perform as subject matter expert as needed to all relevant areas of the Company.
  • Expected to influence and recommend further investigation of areas of the Claims operations based on analysis or audit.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS:

Assists with projects as required and other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Requires:
    1. 4 year college degree; or
    2. 10 or more years claims insurance experience.
    3. Four or more years supervising or investigating suspicious losses.
    4. AIC, CPCU, CFI, CFE designation preferred.

Language Skills:

Must be able to read, analyze and interpret procedures, regulations, instructions, manuals and other documents as required. Excellent telephone, public relations and oral/written communication skills are required.

Reasoning Skills:

Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

Must possess intermediate skills and be proficient or have demonstrated aptitude with computers including experience with Excel, Word, and web-based systems. Proficiency in call center reporting a must.

OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES

The employee must be able to organize and prioritize work; must have knowledge of office administration procedures and able to operate most standard office equipment. The employee must pay attention to detail in composing and proofing materials. Must be self-motivated with initiative and ability to make decisions and accept responsibility. Employee must be flexible to respond to unexpected situations that require immediate attention. A high level of confidentiality is to be maintained by the employee. Must be adaptable to change on short notice and have excellent people skills such as diplomacy, tact, patience, good listener and communicator.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to operate in a normal office environment with occasional travel necessary to visit office locations, conduct investigations, and attend conference/training classes and meetings. The employee is required to sit, use hands to finger, handle controls, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, lift and move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision. Must maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
