QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a minimum of 2–5 years of experience or DAE Civil with 5–7 years of strong site experience, may be considered.
  • Experience related to site-level supervision of building construction projects.
  • Firsthand experience with RCC structures, masonry, plastering, finishing, and external development works.
  • PEC registration is required for engineers.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, building materials, and workmanship standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and construction measurement tools.
  • Ability to manage labour teams effectively and resolve day-to-day site issues.
  • Strong observation, documentation, and reporting skills.

  • Resilience and ability to work under pressure in challenging field conditions.

The position

The Aga Khan Agency for Habitat Pakistan invites applications for the position of Site/Field Engineer at its Site Office in Uch Sharif, Multan. The role entails the following key responsibilities and requires candidates to meet the criteria outlined below.

The Site/Field Engineer-Civil is responsible for firsthand supervision of construction work at the project site, ensuring quality, safety, and the timely execution of daily activities. This role involves direct interaction with contractors, labourers, and suppliers to implement approved designs, drawings, and technical specifications. The Site/Field Engineer provides accurate progress updates, verifies material usage, and ensures that site practices align with AKAH’s quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Site Execution & Supervision

  • Supervise daily construction activities, including earthworks, RCC, masonry, plastering, flooring, roofing, and finishing.
  • Ensure that all work is executed strictly as per approved drawings, BOQs, and instructions from the Field Engineer/Project Engineer.
  • Monitor manpower, tools, and equipment usage to ensure efficient productivity.
  • Resolve minor technical and practical issues arising during daily construction activities.

Quality Control

  • Inspect and verify construction workmanship and material quality.
  • Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures for concrete, steel reinforcement, blocks, and finishes.
  • Conduct on-site tests (slump test, cube test, etc.) and maintain records.
  • Report deviations or defects to the Field Engineer for corrective actions.

Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Maintain daily work logs, including labour attendance, work quantities, and material consumption.
  • Submit daily progress reports and provide inputs for weekly/monthly project updates.
  • Assist in preparing site measurements for interim payment certificates.
  • Highlight delays, risks, or constraints at the site level to the Project Engineer.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Enforce compliance with AKAH’s safety protocols and site-specific safety plans.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and educate workers on safe work practices.
  • Identify and immediately address unsafe activities or hazardous conditions.
  • Support the implementation of waste management and eco-friendly construction practices.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and workers for the smooth execution of works.
  • Support the Project Engineer during site visits by consultants, SENIOR MANAGER CONSTRUCTIONS/CM, or community representatives.
  • Facilitate local community representatives where required, maintaining professionalism and respect.

Documentation & Record-Keeping

  • Keep updated copies of the latest approved drawings and site instructions.
  • Record material deliveries, usage, and stock balances at the site.
  • Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings and technical documentation.

Support & Capacity Building

  • Provide technical guidance to foremen, masons, carpenters, and other trades on correct methods.
  • Promote a learning culture on-site through knowledge sharing.
  • Support junior staff in developing site supervision and reporting skills.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.
