Velaz Solar & Roofing is a leader in sustainable, cost-effective solar solutions for homes and businesses, committed to quality, efficiency, and environmental responsibility. As we continue to drive the solar energy transition in New Jersey, we are seeking a Site Survey / Field Operator to join our team in Elizabeth, NJ. This role is essential to ensuring accurate site assessments and supporting the seamless planning and installation of solar projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Site Assessment Reviews (SAR) for roofing projects, with occasional evaluation of solar installation feasibility
- Capture high-quality photos and videos of site conditions using mobile devices
- Prepare detailed written reports documenting roofing and site conditions
- Assess roofing systems and structural integrity to support project feasibility
- Perform permit runs and assist with documentation for regulatory compliance
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate project planning and execution
- Maintain organized records of all site data, reports, and inspections
- Meet with homeowners on-site when required
Requirements
Position Requirements – Roofing Field Specialist
Core Qualifications (Required)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in roofing
- At least 1 year of experience in roofing site surveys
- Ability to prepare detailed field reports based on site conditions
- Capable of working independently in the field with minimal supervision
- Comfortable using smartphones/mobile devices for:
- Photos
- Videos
- Field reporting
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must be comfortable working at heights
Field & Operational Responsibilities
- Conduct site surveys across New Jersey
- Travel to multiple job sites for:
- Meet with customers on-site when required
- Pick up additional materials as needed
- Ensure proper documentation of roofing conditions and installations
- Work primarily in roofing (95%) with limited involvement in solar (5%)
Work Schedule & Availability
- Schedule: Monday through Saturday
- Availability to work Saturday mornings (as needed)
- Willingness to work extra hours when necessary
