About the role

Queensland Rail is seeking an experienced Site Services Welding Supervisor to lead and supervise on-site welding and fabrication activities across our rail network. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring all welding works are delivered safely, compliantly and to the highest quality standards.

This role is ideal for a strong people leader with extensive welding and rail maintenance experience who thrives in a safety-critical environment.

Day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include

  • Supervise and coordinate site-based welding and fabrication activities across civil and rail assets
  • Lead, coach and mentor welders and site staff to achieve safe and productive outcomes
  • Ensure all works comply with Queensland Rail standards, WHS legislation and relevant codes of practice
  • Review and implement welding procedures, inspections and quality assurance requirements
  • Manage job planning, work packs, permits, risk assessments and safe work method statements
  • Liaise with engineering, project and asset maintenance teams to support delivery schedules
  • Investigate incidents, identify hazards and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate records, reporting and documentation in line with QR requirements

This Role Will Be Ideal for People Who:

  • Trade qualification in Welding, Metal Fabrication or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience supervising welding activities in a heavy industrial, rail or infrastructure environment
  • Strong knowledge of welding standards and rail safety requirements
  • Proven commitment to safety leadership and risk management
  • High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to lead teams in a dynamic, operational environment
  • Computer literacy and experience with maintenance management systems

Highly regarded:

  • Welding Supervisor AS2214 certification
