Site Selection Specialist at atNorth

At atNorth, we're growing rapidly and expanding our data center footprint across the Nordic region. We're now looking for a Site Selection Specialist to join our team in Finland and play a key role in identifying and developing the locations that will power tomorrow's digital world.

As a Site Selection Specialist, you'll support the evaluation and development of future data center sites across Finland. You'll work at the intersection of project development, land acquisition, permitting, infrastructure, and stakeholder management. Together with colleagues across Site Selection, Design, Development, and Technical Due Diligence, you'll help turn potential opportunities into future data center projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining analytical work with relationship building and wants to contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects from their earliest stages.

Key responsibilities:

Site Selection & Development

• Identifying and assessing potential sites for future data center developments.
• Evaluating opportunities based on key criteria such as power availability, grid access, permitting requirements, logistics, accessibility, and future scalability.
• Preparing analyses, reports, and presentation materials to support project reviews and investment decisions.
• Supporting multiple site development projects and helping keep activities, timelines, and stakeholders aligned.

Due Diligence & Feasibility

• Coordinating technical, environmental, legal, and commercial due diligence activities together with internal experts and external consultants.
• Supporting feasibility studies, site layouts, master planning, and risk assessments.
• Tracking key findings, risks, dependencies, and mitigation actions throughout the evaluation process.
• Ensuring project information and documentation are accurate, well-structured, and decision-ready.

Stakeholder & Permitting Coordination

• Working closely with municipalities, authorities, utilities, landowners, consultants, and other key stakeholders.
• Supporting zoning, permitting, and regulatory processes required to move projects forward.
• Assisting with permit applications, submissions, and related documentation.
• Building strong relationships and helping navigate stakeholder requirements throughout the development lifecycle.

Project Delivery & Handover

• Supporting projects as they progress through atNorth's site approval and governance process.
• Coordinating activities across Site Selection, Design, and Development teams.
• Ensuring key information, commitments, and due diligence findings are successfully transferred into later project phases.
• Contributing to market research and future land-bank development initiatives.

Your profile:

• A degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction, Environmental Sciences, Land Use Planning, Geography, Real Estate Development, or a related field.
• Experience in site selection, site development, land development, infrastructure development, or project coordination.
• Exposure to infrastructure, energy, industrial, utility-scale, data center, or other large-scale development projects.
• Knowledge of site evaluation, feasibility studies, permitting, land use planning, or technical due diligence.
• Strong stakeholder management and project coordination skills.
• A structured, analytical, and proactive approach to your work.
• Excellent communication skills in both Finnish and English.
• Readiness to travel across Finland.

Considered an Advantage

• Experience working on large-scale infrastructure, energy, industrial, or data center projects.
• Familiarity with power infrastructure, grid connection processes, permitting, or technical due diligence.
• Relevant professional certifications within project management, development, planning, or construction..

This is a permanent role, and candidates must be eligible to work in Finland. Occasional travel within Finland and the Nordic region may be required. Background checks are conducted for all our employees.
