Embark on a journey with us, where you can innovate for a future that we want to make smarter and greener, in a responsible and sustainable way. Our technology starts with you.

Duties & Responsibilities

STMicroelectronics Malta is seeking a skilled and motivated Site Security Responsible to join our Central Construction Facility Services team.

You will lead the physical and technological protection of our manufacturing facility, spearheading an advanced security strategy designed to counter fraud, unauthorized access, and threat vectors against our physical assets and sensitive devices. A primary focus of your role will be the hands-on technical ownership, preventative upkeep, and lifecycle maintenance of our enterprise security systems to guarantee zero infrastructure downtime. As an inspiring team motivator, you will foster an alert and resilient security culture through coaching, guiding, and empowering our internal teams and external partners—ensuring comprehensive, round-the-clock protection of our site, our people, and our critical technology. Together with the Chief Security Officer will be responsible for the following:

  • Security Program Leadership: Formulate, organize, and execute comprehensive corporate security strategies, asset protection programs, and loss prevention protocols.
  • Site Ownership: Take accountability for the physical security and emergency preparedness of the site, ensuring all critical infrastructure and operational zones are secure 24/7.
  • Facility Design & Site Expansion: Oversee the security design layout, access control topology, and vulnerability assessments for site expansions and facility modifications (e.g., KK3).
  • Security Infrastructure Maintenance: Directly oversee the routine maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and preventative upkeep of all electronic security systems, including CCTV networks, automated access control systems (ACS), perimeter intrusion detection systems (IDS), and visitor management platforms.
  • Technical System Lifecycle: Manage hardware and software upgrades, firmware patches, and the integration of new security technologies to maximize system reliability and eliminate downtime.
  • Vendor & Contractor Control: Supervise external security integrators, technicians, and maintenance subcontractors, ensuring all physical installations meet strict corporate and industrial standards.
  • Standards & Certifications: Maintain and support security management workflows aligned with corporate quality standards management systems such as ISO28000.
  • Audit & Legal Liaison: Coordinate internal and external security audits, risk evaluations, and threat assessments. Act as the primary interface for local law enforcement, regulatory authorities, and emergency services.
  • Permit & Access Governance: Manage high-security permitting processes, key management protocols, and strict access governance across all manufacturing, chemical storage, and high-value asset zones.
  • Security Data Integrity: Ensure high-accuracy data collection from security monitoring platforms, incident logs, and network analytics for corporate reporting and post-incident investigations.
  • Financial Control: Prepare and manage the security department budget, evaluating the ROI and operational impact of security technology investments and maintenance contracts.
  • Inspiring Team Motivator: Directly manage and develop the internal security team and contracted guarding personnel, leading with a constructive, collaborative approach that builds team morale and avoids aggressive or adversarial management styles.
  • Coaching & Influence: Act as a collaborative leader who guides, coaches, and inspires security personnel and cross-functional teams through positive influence rather than top-down, rigid command-and-control tactics.
  • Training & Awareness: Develop and deploy site-wide security awareness programs, ensuring employees and subcontractors understand emergency protocols, tailgating prevention, and asset protection policies.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Security Management, or a related technical/scientific field.
  • Technical & System Mastery: Hands-on experience and technical knowledge regarding the maintenance, preferably, but not mandatory on architecture, and upkeep of enterprise-level electronic security hardware, IP video management systems, and automated access control networks.
  • Proven Experience: Significant background in handling maintenance, in particular preventive maintenance and monitoring of KPIs that indicate the required actions where they need to be focuses.
  • People Management & Leadership: A proven track record in people leadership, with the ability to manage diverse, shift-based teams and coordinate seamlessly with external security partners.
  • Constructive, Collaborative Approach: An engaging style focused on coaching and empowering teams, driving site safety and performance through communication, positive reinforcement, and mutual respect.
  • Continuous Improvement: Demonstrated experience spearheading business improvement programs (e.g., Lean, automated workflows, or data-driven operational initiatives) to optimize security processes and response times.
  • Strategic Influence: Ability to effectively collaborate with, influence, and align external partners, local authorities, and internal executive stakeholders to drive necessary organizational or technical changes without relying on authority-based pressure.
  • Communication: Possess exceptional communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to work independently, respond dynamically to fast-changing security situations, and present clear reporting to all interested parties.

This role is a unique opportunity to lead a comprehensive physical and technical security agenda, balancing hardware reliability with a human-centric approach to leadership and site safety. If you are ready to integrate these pillars into a cohesive strategy that safeguards our people and our technology, we look forward to reviewing your application.
