About Vertical Mechanical Group

Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG) is an industry leader providing award-winning expertise in both HVAC and Plumbing. Formerly known as Anderson Mechanical Services, Inc. and Inspiration Plumbing Company, these two respected organizations were brought together to deliver best-in-class mechanical solutions for commercial new construction, renovations, upfits, design-build projects, and installations.

As a family-owned and operated company, VMG offers a tailored, hands-on approach to each project, combining personalized service with the resources and capabilities of a large specialty contractor.

The Opportunity

To support our continued growth, VMG is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Site Safety Coordinator to join our team.

This field-based role is responsible for promoting and maintaining safe working environments across multiple active construction projects. The Site Safety Coordinator will partner with project managers, superintendents, field personnel, and executive leadership to ensure compliance with VMG policies, OSHA regulations, and construction-industry best practices.

The ideal candidate is a bilingual safety professional who is comfortable engaging with field teams, identifying potential hazards, delivering training, and taking prompt action to protect employees and strengthen our safety culture.

What You'll Do

Jobsite Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and enforce VMG safety policies and procedures across active construction sites
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and job-hazard assessments
  • Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and recommend appropriate corrective actions
  • Follow up with field leadership to ensure safety concerns are addressed promptly
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA standards and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Support jobsite emergency-response planning and other safety initiatives

Incident Prevention & Investigation

  • Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, accidents, and near misses
  • Document findings and identify contributing factors and root causes
  • Recommend preventive and corrective measures to reduce future risk
  • Track corrective actions through completion
  • Recognize safety trends and communicate areas requiring additional attention

Training & Safety Communication

  • Conduct new-hire safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing field training
  • Communicate safety expectations clearly to English- and Spanish-speaking employees
  • Partner with project managers, superintendents, and field leadership to reinforce accountability
  • Coach employees on safe work practices and proper procedures
  • Help build a proactive, team-oriented safety culture across VMG projects

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate inspection reports, incident records, training documentation, and compliance files
  • Track safety observations, corrective actions, and follow-up activities
  • Prepare and communicate safety updates to project and company leadership
  • Ensure required records are complete, organized, and readily available

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 1 year of construction safety experience, preferably in commercial mechanical construction
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish required
  • Current OSHA 30 certification required
  • CPR and First Aid certifications preferred
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices
  • Excellent communication, coaching, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project and field teams
  • Ability to travel regularly to active project sites throughout the DMV area
