About Role

This is your opportunity to join Aussie Broadband at an exciting time as we expand our team, with two opportunities available: Site Reliability Engineer and Senior Site Reliability Engineer.

In these roles, you’ll play a key part in building the reliable, scalable and automated platforms that power our customers, our teams and our next phase of growth. You will work closely with Network Operations, Network Engineering, Services Engineering, Platforms, Cloud and Software Development to improve reliability, observability and performance across critical systems.

What you’ll be doing

  • Design, build and maintain reliable, scalable and resilient systems for a range of workloads.
  • Develop automated solutions that improve reliability and uptime for critical services.
  • Enhance monitoring, alerting and logging so issues can be identified before they impact customers.
  • Support production environments through troubleshooting, incident response and on-call participation.
  • Analyse system performance and balance reliability, cost, utilisation and throughput outcomes.
  • Maintain infrastructure platforms using Infrastructure as Code tools such as ArgoCD, Ansible or Terraform.
  • Document processes, infrastructure configurations, incident responses and post-incident reviews.
  • Work in PHP applications to troubleshoot issues, design improvements and implement changes that revolve around improving reliability.
  • Mentor others and help build a culture of shared ownership and continuous improvement.

About you

You’re a practical problem-solver who enjoys working with others, learning quickly and bringing clarity to complex technical environments. You’re comfortable working across software, cloud, infrastructure and operations, and you’re motivated by building systems that perform reliably at scale.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure and container orchestration with Kubernetes.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux systems, networking, distributed systems and high-availability architectures.
  • Experience writing well-tested, maintainable code, ideally in Go, Python or PHP.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or other SQL databases.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure and software security best practice.
  • Experience with SuSE Rancher, Harvester or related components would be highly regarded.
