At Syngenta, we help address one of the greatest challenges of our time: developing a more sustainable, innovative and high-performing agriculture.
The Toulouse Innovation Center holds a key place in this ambition. A true centre of expertise and innovation, the site brings together dedicated teams in an international, scientific and collaborative environment.
In this context, we are looking for our future Site Manager to support the site's development, drive an ambitious vision and unite teams around a culture of performance, innovation and human engagement.
This role offers a rare opportunity to combine:
Strategic leadership
Transformation
Site management
Human impact in a multicultural environment
As Site Manager, you oversee the overall management of the Toulouse Innovation Center and play a central role in the site's dynamics and performance. You are responsible for ensuring smooth operations and creating a stimulating, safe and collaborative work environment. You operate at the heart of an international ecosystem and work closely with a wide range of stakeholders: local teams, regional management, global functions and external partners.
Responsibilities
Set direction and drive site momentum:
Define and champion the site's vision in line with the organisation's priorities
Support transformations and strategic projects
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
Ensure a high-performing, agile and results-oriented organisation
Oversee research activities:
Maintain an overall understanding of the site's research programmes and scientific activities
Support research teams by creating the right conditions for innovation to thrive
Act as a bridge between scientific teams and the broader organisation, ensuring alignment between research priorities and site strategy
Manage, unite and develop teams:
Create a positive, collaborative and engaging work environment
Support managers and foster talent development
Encourage accountability, autonomy and innovation
Actively contribute to employee engagement and quality of life at work
Drive financial performance:
Own the site's budget and ensure rigorous, responsible resource management
Build and foster a financial mindset across teams, encouraging smart allocation and challenging the status quo
Drive efficiency and innovation not only in research, but in how resources are planned and utilised
Ensure safety and compliance:
Champion a strong Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) culture
Ensure compliance with regulations and internal standards
Develop a proactive approach to risk prevention and continuous improvement
Manage social relations and stakeholders:
Maintain quality social dialogue with the site's employee representative bodies
Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Represent the site with regional and international teams
Your profile:
Engineering degree or equivalent Master's level (Bac+5), with a minimum of 10 years' experience in management, including 5 years in an international environment. Non-linear career paths are welcome – what matters most is your ability to unite people, inspire teams and navigate complex environments.
What we are looking for:
A hands-on leader: someone who inspires and brings people together, but who also knows how to roll up their sleeves – actively participating in the delivery of projects and initiatives, not just managing from a distance.
You bring:
Significant experience in site management, operations, production, R&D or a similar environment
A strong management background and the ability to drive organisational change
A proven ability to lead transformation projects in complex, international contexts
Experience in budget management and financial stewardship, with the ability to drive a culture of diligent resource management
Familiarity with research or innovation environments, with the ability to engage meaningfully with scientific teams and programmes
Collaborative and unifying leadership, with a genuine results-driven mindset
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
A strong awareness of HSE issues and operational excellence
Full professional fluency in both French and English is mandatory – written and spoken
Beyond your experience, we are looking for a personality who can bring a clear vision, energy and a sincere commitment to the site and its teams.
