The opportunity
At Grid & Power Quality Solutions and Service business in Europe (HBUEU), diversity drives our culture of innovation and collaboration. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Site Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of project execution on our sites within Belgium, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Job Responsibilities
* Lead, manage, and supervise all on-site activities, including construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of Hitachi Energy products and solutions.
* Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety plans and procedures in compliance with Hitachi Energy and local regulations, fostering a strong safety culture among all personnel.
* Plan, organize, and allocate resources effectively, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to optimize project execution and achieve milestones.
* Manage and coordinate subcontractors, ensuring their work aligns with project specifications, schedules, and safety requirements.
* Monitor project progress against established schedules and budgets, identifying potential deviations and implementing corrective actions proactively.
* Act as the primary point of contact for clients on-site, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring clear communication regarding project status, issues, and resolutions.
* Prepare and submit regular progress reports, daily logs, and other required documentation to project management.
* Identify and manage project risks and opportunities, developing mitigation strategies as necessary.
* Ensure adherence to quality control procedures and specifications throughout the project lifecycle.
* Resolve technical and logistical challenges that arise on-site, escalating complex issues to appropriate departments when required.
* Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with project plans, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Job Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in site management or a similar leadership role within the power transmission and distribution, industrial, or construction sectors.
* Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
* Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
* Proficiency in project management software and tools.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
* Fluency in Dutch, French, and English (written and spoken) is essential.
* Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively within Belgium.
* Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.
